It's a very vicious circle Randy! FOL!!!

And I'm guessing the paint will be fine. I'll def be using hi temp clearcoat. I've run hi temp paint on calipers/rotors though an it looked worse sooner than traditional paint did multiple times IMO. Seems like such a rip off when it's like $10 a can cause its "high temp" lol!

I'm an impatient kinda guy. Dropped the vinyl down. Not 100% sold on it yet...

[edit] pic showed uploaded again but wasn't. Site is very glitchy today...

Are you going to put a coat of clear high temp over it now?

Not with clearcoat over it no. I've dropped vinyls on calipers and even the intake plenum on my Z with no problems at all. As long as cleared there will be no problems.

Hmmm...interesting. That shield gets VERY hot. I know it gets much hotter than a intake plenum but, not sure about brake calipers. Cool if that works!

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Adair - Maybe I'm pulling a newb here with how hot that shield will actually get. Hopefully it holds tight though and heat to the shield is cut down enough by the blanket to where it won't be an issue. If anything were to happen, it's at least extremely easy to remove and fix it. My plenum did get extremely hot though! And I even ran a 1/2" spacer and had a coolant reroute system on mine too. The vinyl I dropped down when I custom painted mine never budged...hopefully I won't have problems.

Randy - I am unsure on any vinyl being on there....idk yet lol! I can't bring myself to clear it yet. But I DO agree that if any vinyl in any place that this is where it's appropriate lol! Besides my "WRXTuners" vinyl in my bay near the wipers I have no vinyls anywhere.

Here's the vinyl on my plenum. And this pic was probably a year or so after I had did it.

I'm trying to control my impulse to drop vinyl on everything though FOL!! As you've all seen my past cars were littered with vinyls. The Z only had what you've just seen in the bay for vinyl, and I'm trying to keep the Rex to the same clean look.

I didnt even consider the blanket. That probably will cut down the temp of the heat shield considerably.
Now clear that damn thing

An intake manifold isn't the same as a friggin turbo...The heat coming from the turbo will far exceed what an intake manifold will see...then again what do I know...
