Tgv deletes
 
Can someone shed some light on this subject to me? I'm doing rails in my car this week and someone mentioned to do the tgv deletes. Anyone w any personal exp w this?

Basically you take out the butterflies and rod that go in the TVG housings. This allows air to flow better into the intake runners. They are there for emissions purposes. You would also need to shut off the codes or the car will not run correctly. You can tune for this by richening the start up fuel parameters, but I have found the ECU actually corrects for this by itself.

Ok, so the tgv are there for emissions purposes what do they actually do? Do they control/limit the amount of air that enters the manifold?

They also help the car start up on a cold day...which with E85 might help out.

I do alot of Vermont trips in the winter to snowboard. I'm curious of deleting the tgv is gonna screw me? I wont be on e85 during ling trips like vermont. I won't be e85 too much longer to be honest. I'll prob be on it till the meet then that's it

I know I've heard conflicting reports about it, but I've heard that the error is all that needs to be removed and I've heard that it can cause the car to run lean everywhere and needs to be compensated for. Having never tuned I don't have an experience. I would just ask your tuner what they think just to make sure.

Just remove everything. It's not as hard as it seems and the only real pita is grinding down the divider plate. Tuning as I said a little bit of enrichment, but nothing super crazy really needs done. Unless your running serious boost it's not worth doing unless you already have to take the intake off anyway and even then.

Agree with the grumpy ol' cat ^. If your gonna do it, do it all or nothing. Like he said, its really not hard. I did my own. I bought a set ahead of time and deleted them. Then sold my stockers. No downtime that way.
