supporting mods for vf52

i'm planning on upgrading the stock turbo on my 08 wrx to a vf52 (same one on the 09wrx). i read in the unabomber's manifesto that the 08wrx and the 09wrx have the same intercooler/fuel pump/injectors. my question now is, are there other minimum required supporting mods i should get? how about recommended just-to-be-safe mods? and nice-to-haves?

You plan on getting it tuned correct? If so look into a fuel pump, down pipe and 3 port boost control solenoid also.

yes, will definitely have it tuned after.
from my googling research, the stock fuel pump of the 08wrx is the same as the 09wrx's.
downpipe, yes, i plan on getting the invidia catted dp.

is the 3 port boost control solenoid required? or recommended?

I am out of the loop with new wrx, but you will want to talk to your tuner to ensure you will not be making out your stock fuel pump and injectors on the tune he is planning for you.

Stock fuel set up is fine for stage 2. It will show maxed out but it's not. The stock Ecu is dumb vs aftermarket stand alones. Stock can show as high as 115% duty cycle which would be impossible. More stuff u actually add on the better you help out your fuel system. I know that sounds weird but everything stock is very restrictive so putting bigger things on eases the stress and you flow a little less fuel.

3 port isn't really needed. Not till you're well above 20 psi for a long time.

Alright, got it. Thanks!

sugeina 09-19-2012 11:22 PM

so, i got a vf52 already and an invidia catless downpipe (everything else, stock).
haven't talked to my tuner yet as he's still out of town.

can i expect to exceed 300whp already with this setup?

pzr2874 09-20-2012 05:35 AM

Nope...

BoostinChick 09-20-2012 08:38 PM

....maybe on E85 and a super aggressive tune. But then you need injectors and a pump.

sugeina 09-21-2012 01:19 AM
Nope...
hmm... how about 270whp?

would adding 650cc injectors and a 175lph pump do the trick? or do i need to upgrade the tmic also?

turmic 09-21-2012 08:25 PM

Need a 255lph fuel pump. TMIC upgrade would help.

U can hit 300hp if its a lower reading dyno. The number doesn't matter, the increase does. Find out what his dyno reads first and you should be around a 70hp increase over stock. Up grading the fuel system won't help because there are other things that need addressed first. The whole intake system needs redone. Intake, tmic, tgvs etc. also the exhaust sucks, header, ewg etc will really open it up and take the stress off your fuel system. I was running stock injectors to 330hp and 360tq on a dynojet that read around 230hp 240tq stock. That equals 21psi down low to make the tq and 15.5psi to make the hp up top and I only got to 94% duty cycle which is low by some tuners standards. There are a million ways to make power on these cars! Sadly part by part only adds a few small ponies here and there. Only way to make bigger, cheaper power is E85 or a bigger turbo.

Remember winter time, the "e85" content can dip to e70 in most places.

Alright, so i want a 120whp increase. I already have a downpipe and a vf52.
What else is the minimum that i need?

pzr2874 09-22-2012 09:05 AM

750cc inj, Walbro FP, better TMIC, 3port bcs. And all your maintainence UTD.
