I'm looking at a short ram intake and i was wondering if there was a difference between the STI and the WRX? If anyone could answer this that would be great and help me out a lot. also i have a 2012 WRX

Do you have a tune already on the car? Do you have some way to tune for the Short ram?

No i don't have the car tuned. I was told that i wouldn't need one until i wanted to get some real horsepower added. He also told me that the computer would adjust everything for me

If it adds power than it's changing the air/fuel balance and the ECU should be adjusted accordingly. Anything that changes the engine performance should be tuned for.

And who told you it was ok to run it? Because they clearly have no business offering advice on the subject.

apeix doesnt make a 08+ intake filter do they...also whats the different in the filters, being it looks like apeix sells filters not intake kits? and also is the MAF need to be changed as well or just ecu tune when changing the intake out?

2012 WRX: none

lolwut!!

Are you asking about a drop in filter? If you are look into a K&N or a dryflow of some sort.

Rule of thumb, if you buy a replacement intake, the MAF should be in the stock location.

Apeix or Apexi?

Apexi makes intakes. This test is not STI specific parts. The problem is that the HKS mushroom filters are made of paper thin foam filter that don't block anything smaller than a small bird. If you hold it up to a light you can see right thru it, which means it won't do a very good job of filtration.

You just need to get tuned for the intake.

Depends on your power output. So many people have know idea what the stock intake is capable of and yet it can handle more power than you think...I'm still on the stock MAF, granted I cheated and half the values, but it works.
