Planning to buy WRX 2009

Hello everyone,
I read about WRX a lots, now I planning to buy a 2009 one, but before I buy I'd like to ask experts about the car. Should I worry about the reliability of the new WRX. What is normally have problem with the WRX? Thank you very much for your help.

one problem with the WRX is that our tranny is not as strong as the STi. If you can afford the STi go for that but if you can't get the WRX. What are your plans for the car? If it is DD then the wrx is perfect. But if it is a track car, get the WRX. Read up on stickies and this forum. I learned A LOT from these guys/girls. And if you have a question, use the search button. Chances are, they might have been answered already.

The only con to the 09 is engine failure. There is a thread on NASIOC about it but can't find it right now.

oh man, not this same issue again.

it started in the 07's and it's still going on. it sounds like the same issue. either get a stage 1 flash on it early or hope and pray and dont mod so it will stay under warranty.

Thank you so much for fast reply. I just planning for daily driving, not for track. I've been own Honda and Toyota, they seem very reliable . this times I 'd like to try something stronger, reasonable price ( around $25K ) and also reliable. Thanks again for your help.

Do you have your eyes set on the 09 WRX? For $25k you could get a 04-07 STi. Which is a better platform to start off from.

I don't know much about DIY , that why I don't feel good to buy used car, specially with turbo.
Does it cost a lots when the turbo break down?
Is WRX car reliable
Does it cost more money to fix them than some car like Toyota or Honda?
Thanks for your advises.

Yes, the WRX is VERY reliable. My car has only broken down once for the 25k miles since I have owned the car. It had something to do with my spark plugs. DIY? It all depends on what you want out of the turbo. You can buy a used turbo off of people on NASIOC all the time because people upgrade their turbos. So the stock td04 or vf39 can be bought for cheap.

You might want to be a little more specific there tuner it a car breaking down once in 25k miles doesn't sound reliable did you buy it used and with how many miles?

Stock turbos can be found for cheap like he said as for do it yourself there are some walk through if you felt like attempting projects yourself

Price wise, if your buying new the warranty should cover most things and you could just let Subaru do all of the work for you.

Yeah I got it used at 33k miles. Don't really know what happened really. Spark plug was loose or something? And dealership replaced it.

Just picked up an 09 today. What does the stage one flash have to do with avoiding the engine failure issue? Got a late VIN#, hoping the issue is resolved by now...
