Overboost?!

so i was on the high way and i went wot in 5th at around 2500-3500 and my car jerked,(similar to dumping the clutch), and then my check engine light and cruise went on. im guessin my car overboosted. the light stayed on after a restart or two and then it went off before i could check the code. any ideas as to what could have happened? 08 wrx xpt stage 2

I've heard of this happening if the tank is low. You should really downshift if you need to accelerate rather than smashing the pedal at 2500 RPMs.

What VisiX said, plus just curious if you have any after market bolt ons like a down pipe and such. Those lights are typical for the factory over boost protection with that jerk/jolt the car made, but will just go away after it's at proper levels driving around for a bit. I forget what that code is, sorry.

i have just a aftermarket downpipe, dropin filter(lol) and a os tune. yea my tank was pretty low mostlikely, i cant afford to really fill it up, i always cruise around with a quarter to 1/8. thanks for the quick response homies.

with an OS tune sounds wrong that you'd have an over boost prob, the tune should of set everything. then again all i have is a boost gauge and in lower gears when i go WOT the boost gauge reads 20psi real fast then drops to 15psi then tapers to 10psi like it should. in higher gears it shoots to 17psi real fast then drops to 15psi then tappers to 10psi like it should. so either my gauge is wrong or the stock "set" map isnt working like it should. but ive never had a prob with check engine lights, cut offs, jerks or what evers, car runs great. i have heard never run your car hard when your low on gas. with your OS tune you could be trying to push a LOT of fuel and your running out, causing the check engine and jerks

OS tunes still request you DO NOT floor 5th gear below 3k. It will overboost ever time. Shift down my friend. The code will reset and you'll be fine.

BTW running low on gas all the time is hard on the fuel pump, filter and regulator.

Just my .02 cents. When I had my Cobb OTS stage 2, when cold out and downshifting to 4th I had the overboost issue a hand full of times. It happens from time to time. Its not the worst thing to happen, but not good either.

You gotta give you subie more love than just an 1/8 or a 1/4 tank You burn through it at the same rate no matter how much you have in it, it'll just be a one time cost to bring it up a 1/4 a tank more...It might not be as big of an issue with your car because it's so new, but running very low on gas is not great either because you can stir up the contaminants at the bottom of the tank, which isn't what most people want to be going through their fuel system...
