New TMIC

My car is a 2013 STi sedan as most of you know. I read some issues about the TMIC on the STi splitting as well. The end tabs can split. Will it? I have no idea. I ran across a buy that I couldnt pass up. $210 for a bar and plate top mount intercooler! Even if its a product i can test and throw out if i hate it, i wont feel bad. so this is it guys....feel free to comment some positive feedback or even bash me if you feel the need lol

No bashing required... Throw that b1tch on and see how it handles.

Sounds like a good deal! Will that fit the WRX as well or just STi?

Looks like it'll only for sti bAsed on th description but I bet with some modifications it could fit a Wrx. Looks very similair to the process west top mount

Like I said via text Dave I think it looks good! He seems to have some solid data there. Maybe the guys on here can elaborate on his findings as well?.?.

But if anything, like you said, if it fails it's hardly money wasted for a better than OE TMIC and that I def agree with 👍

For the price, I couldn't pass it up! It's ordered. I'm actually kinda excited to get it. The quality seems good! It's the same design as the PW, GS, and spearco. If its a POS and sux, I'll dissect it and look inside of it

Your stock TMIC is going to be better. The Torx TMIC is just enough knock off intercooler, and we all know how those work.

EBay TMIC tests - NASIOC

As Layvon mentioned, Franko's testing is flawed. You will see initial peak gains regardless simply because the core is less restrictive (higher flow) than the stock tube and fin. What matters though is will those gains continue after you've been driving. Like you said though, at $210 it's not like the world is over if you don't like it.

As Layvon mentioned, something is funky with Franko's testing. You will see initial peak gains simply because the core is less restrictive (higher flow) than the stock tube and fin. The problem is that because these cores aren't very efficient, they will heat up much more quickly and shed less heat.
To my understanding, torx makes good quality stuff. I can be wrong.

So without a dyno, what else can Dave look for that'll help diagnose the Torx compared to the STi intercooler?

Read temps after a run outside the IC?
Fuel efficiency?.?.

An IR gun, harbor freight has them cheap

Maybe Intake air temps if he has a ap. Im not sure if it measures them before or after the intercooler. Probably before *derp*

Yeah this is what I was thinking could help get data. You should grab one now Dave and get yourself some base readings.

Do a few logs in 3rd and 4th without it and then with it. See if it has an issue with boost.

I will. Like I mentioned, for 200 bucks I'm willing to take the chance. Pw is 1000 and Gs is 600+ not including the splitter.
