new to subaru

Hi im new to owning a subaru been trying to search and learn about them and see that we pretty much need a tune for any modification so i thought id ask if i put in a k&n drop in filter a full 3inch catback exhaust on my 2012 wrx and reset the ecu by disconection the battery i would not a tune because im still using the stock airbox and all a exhaust does is frees up backpressure correct? If u could please verify me that would be awsome thanks

Drop in is ok. Resetting is ok as well. Not sure if the CB does much of anything but sound, but mated with a aftermarket DP will help relieve the backpressure for sure.

unhook your neg. off your battery and press your brake in for 10 seconds or so to drain all power. That should reset ya if needed.

^Normally it's a good idea to unhook the battery when doing any changes to your car. Plugs, exhaust, cleaning the TB, cleaning the MAF, anything mech/electric based really.

Okay thanks for the info pzr! I didnt do that when I put my CBE on. Could that cause my CEL to come on? Mine came on the other day when I was ideling in traffic. It kinda started to sputter and then came back to normal idle. In the process it caused the CEL to come on.

Don't waste money and time with a cat back...Truthfully it's a waste unless you are going with a full turbo back.

As far as the CEL, go to an auto parts store and have them run a diagnostic on it and it will tell you what it was for. Probably just a misfire..
