New Mishimoto Oil Cooler Kit

Hey All,

Just got word that Mishimoto is releasing a new oil cooler kit for the 08+ WRX and STI!

This is big news for people who track or otherwise hoon their MY08 cars, especially since the WRX is not equipped with a factory oil cooler!

Juicy Details:

Mishimoto makes great stuff (I know, I use one of their radiators) so you know the quality is going to be excellent and installation will be easy peezy. They also have a lifetime warranty on all of their products and top notch service.

This oil cooler kit will be available in WRX and STI chassis specific versions with 4 "Flavors" each.

The main options for each kit are:

  • "Standard" (Silver oil cooler, regular oil sandwich plate and all hardware)
  • "Black Standard" (Black oil cooler, regular oil sandwich plate and all hardware)
  • "Thermostatic" (Silver oil cooler, thermostatic oil sandwich plate and all hardware)
  • "Black Thermostatic" (Black oil cooler, thermostatic oil sandwich plate and all hardware)

The thermostatic oil sandwich plate offers more control over when the oil cooler is used (Internal, replaceable thermostat regulates temperature at which oil flows through the cooler) and the black oil cooler options allow discerning owners to stay low key

Prices start at:

$442.00 for STI kits

and

$476.00 for WRX kits

(Remember to hit me up for special pricing!)

Performance Details:

STI Kit:
  • .65 Quart Oil capacity increase
  • 20-30 Degree oil temperature reduction
  • 3-4 PSI pressure drop

WRX Kit:
  • .65 Quart Oil capacity increase
  • 50-60 Degree oil temperature reduction!
  • 3-4 PSI pressure drop

Both kits include all application specific hardware lines and fittings needed for a painless install.

Yeah I think this mishimoto kit looks great!

Especially since the WRX doesn't come with a stock oil cooler anymore... Not sure why they decided to do that

I can dig a 20-30* drop in oil... but 50*+? Not for a DD.

Do you happen to have the dimensions? .65 qt increase would be nice.

The 50 degree drop is only for the WRX which are not originally equipped with an oil cooler. Also, keep in mind the thermostatic oil sandwich plate allows you to dial in the correct amount of temperature reduction.

Thermostats are available in 165, 185 and 200 degrees Fahrenheit. (When using these the oil cooler is only used above the desired temp.)

Correct, but these kits are WRX/STI specific. Here's a full parts list:

(3) – Application Specific Mounting Brackets and Spacer
(1) – 19 Row Oil Cooler (Silver or Black)
(1) – 2ft, 11in Stainless Steel Braided Hose with 45 Degree and 150 Degree -10AN Fittings
(1) – 3ft, 6in Stainless Steel Braided Hose with 45 Degree and 90 Degree -10AN Fittings
(1) – M20 Thermostatic Sandwich Plate (Non-Thermostatic Available)
(1) – 15mm CNC Sandwich Plate Spacer
(1) – Application specific M20 Sandwich Plate Adapter
(2) – M20 x -10AN Straight Fittings
(1) – 2ft of thermal reflective wrap
(1) – Mounting Hardware Set

If you were interested in a Universal kit, Mishimoto does have 10 and 19 row kits, that work for most cars. (One of the guys here had the 10 row kit installed on his miata).

Dimensions for the Oil cooler cores are:

12.91" x 2.81" ( 10 row )

and

13" x 5.5" x 2" ( 19 row )
