my 08 rex and the TD04 turbo

Just wondering if its worth building with this turbo or should i look at switching it out for a VF serious , been doing some reading and apparently the TD04 is pretty small compared to the VF52 in the 09+ wrx ....

I plan on getting a high flow catted down pipe , possibly un-catted ( just want to avoid the exhaust carbon on my bumber since i have a SWP rex) , and an invidia n1 exhaust of something similar to start , then ELH ...

BTW flashed my car to stage 1 and what a difference from stock , at least it seemed huge to me...

edit : just read ELH sort of quites down the boxer rumble , who wants that!

Depends on your budget and what you want out of the car. Some people do everything but the turbo (leaving the TD04) because it spools so quickly. But on the down side you wont make very big number with it, so it will die out very quickly on the top end. Personally there are other turbos that spool quickly enough and provide much better range of usable power out there, that its definetly worth upgrading the turbo.

you would need nothing except a tune to just run it, but to maximize it's potential a larger intercooler and a turbo back exhaust are a must

i do plan on doing a full turbo back first before upgrading the turbo , looking at either invidia or TurboXS since they are the only ones ive found to do dual exhausts ... any suggestions where i should look to get the best deal?

Personally, I've always done turbo's last on my cars. Because by then you'll already have mods to support it properly and you'll get the most out of it. If the turbo is working fine then do the other stuff first. Then replace it last...it'll give you the time you need to do adequate research on what turbo to get.

But if I had an 08 WRX I would def add a new turbo to the mod list. A VF for sure, maybe bigger if you want more.

its possible but way harder for his stock turbo over the VF52. not sure if he upgraded though.
