Yes its safe to run an Axleback muffler without tuning.
Just for the sake of knowing you can also run a catback exhaust or a midpipe without tuning. The major point of restriction on the 2016 platform is the Jpipe ( Down Pipe on previous years ) Because the axleback has not impact on the air restriction you can replace it without a tune.
Which axle back are you considering? I would love to hear some sound clips before and after if you think about it when you make the swap.
That makes sense. I plan on swapping the downpipe and tuning later on but for now the car has 3,000 miles on it which means it also has plenty of warranty haha. From what i understand from browsing the internet is Nameless makes for a good axle back sound. I'd probably go with the 4" muffler and 3" double walled staggered tips.
The nameless axle back is a great investment as it is lighter than the stock can. The nameless racepipe is an axle back that weighs 5lbs and has crazy sound. Realize as well that removing the barrel under the rear will lighten it up and give a slightly different feel while driving. I say GO for it, but remember when the mod bug bites it is hard to stop. Til you are out of money lol..
