More turbo sound with stock intake

Is there any way to get some more turbo sound out of a stock intake system on a 2010 WRX??

Doesn't seem like it.. I ended up putting on a Perrin CAI and it's pretty darn loud now. I'm not sure if the 08+ MY have the silencer you can remove like the earlier models.

You can remove the silencer and get MAYBE 20% more sound. The newer cars just don't seem to get much louder. That with a K&N would be maybe 30-40% louder then all stock. You could remove the snorkel thing that goes from the box to the radiator support as well, but then you're eating hot engine bay air.

I also got the Perrin CAI, and the sound of that with the turbo now is louder than my exhaust when I get on it, then the turbo seem to increase even more in sound when I put my Perrin TMIC on too....love it.

there is no silencer on the 2009 or 2010 wrx, so you cant remove it to get more noise from the turbo. all you can really do is get a cai or a panel filter, but make sure you get a tune to go along with those

I was always under the impression that you don't absolutely have to tune for an aftermarket intake or air filter unless you want to maximize your power gains. It's a mod you can just bolt on and forget about like a cat back.

90% of the time that is true, but i know a couple of guys who have had overboost issues with a cai. cant say for sure about just the panel filter though. i guess i just prefer to err on the side of caution with a brand new car.

I forgot the wrx doesn't have the silencer and the STi does. Kinda funny. If you put a K&N in it and run a stage 2 setup, you will hear it.

Good info guys, is anyone having any problems with rain / water / snow with their CAI? Would I be better off with a short ram beacause it rains so much here? I had a bad experience once with a CAI and my last car, Integra GSR and I don't want to go through that again in my WRX...any advice would help...thanx

I dont know about the WRXs. I ran a CAI intake on my Focus. It had a secondary filter so that it wouldnt suck up water.

I don't have any issues with mine... To me it looks pretty well protected from the elements with the fender lining all around it. It does touch the bottom of the fender though so it does sit pretty low in there. I guess if you go into a foot deep puddle you'll have to worry but anything other than that I don't see being an issue.

What CAI are you using on your WRX if you don't mind me asking?
