Intake question

Hi. So took the plunge and did stage1+SF. The intake noise in the cabin -- air swooshing -- if very noticeable esp under boost. Is this normal? I'm just afraid there's a leak somewhere.

its normal. the intake makes the turbo louder. enjoy the coolness, :D

If it's hooked up right, then you're just hearing air in the new intake vs the factory setup.

Increased Induction Sound
Enjoy the increased snarl from your engine and hear the turbo spool more clearly with the addition of the COBB Tuning SF Intake system. Turbocharger induction noise and bypass valve venting sound is much more audible using this intake system.

It's pretty inconsistent. Sometimes an short ram intake will make noise, sometimes it won't. I've had 2 different ones over the years and one is dead silent while the other was annoyingly loud. You really shouldn't have any leaks if you installed it correctly. Intakes a pretty straight forward on the install.

The cold weather is probably contributing to the noise as well.

No your car is ready to blow up...

If it had a bad leak, your car wouldn't run.

What intake did you go with? Deciding which to go with myself.

Cobb. The only real option for wrx.

Ok cool thanks everyone. Yea I've had other intakes and they didn't sound like this. But then again all my other vehicles were NA and not forced induction. By the way--stage 1+SF is like adding a fifth cylinder.

FYI, AEM intakes are also an option for the newer gens. They have OTS maps for it as well.
AEM is a true CAI not a short ram like Cobb.
