I get around 24.5mpg on every fillup. I'm driving 65-75mph 90% of the time I'm on the road. I am also in boost coming off stops but since I'm doing mostly highway miles it doesn't affect mileage much. If you are driving a lot of city miles and stop/go you are lucky to get over 20. When I put on my winter tires (WS-60 very sticky) I get about 20-22 mpg even though I am hardly in the boost at all during the winter.
So basically, it is a combination of your driving habits, your environment, and your tires. 400+ on a tank is not the norm, I would say 280-350 is average.
i do commute about 70 miles a day on the highway and the rest is city.... I guess what i'm getting is pretty decent. I'm just use to my old 3 series. Thanks for your help.
No matter how you look at it your driving a high performance car with a turbo! Chances are your going to get bad gas mileage. You could drive your car like a grandma and shift at 2.5k rpm, but seriously ? If your anything like me, you love the feeling of the boost kicking in, putting you in the back of your seat with a huge grin on your face. And its even worse when your girl in the passenger seat loves it more then you do lol. When my clutch was going out before i changed it, I kept my car on economy mode with my accessport. I avg'ed about 30mpg. I also tried to drive my car as little as possible and most of my commute to work each day is freeway. Now that my new clutch is in and my car is back into stage 2 and its summer time, my mpg isn't the greatest. Needless to say, if I was that worried about fuel economy i would have bought a toyota Prius or something along those lines.
This past winter when I had my roof rack on, I was lucky to get 280-290 miles out of a tank until the low fuel light came on. Now that it's off, I can easily get 320-330+ miles every tank. I drive a mix of city and highway and often put the pedal to the metal because I like to smile too.

I have an 08 and I can average 28 mixed driving ,but thats only if you shift really early. Other then that it is not real good and when I mean early, a little over 2000.
So upgrading to the stage 2 exhaust will get slightly better mileage? I got the cat-back with the car new ('09) and will be putting a down pipe in soon. Still looking on best options and not voiding my warranty
I put 60 miles a day on this puppy; 25 one way to work with 18 miles of highway. If I set the trip o dometer on the highway I range from 25 to 29 mpg at 70 with some hills. City kills me though > I can't resist looking at the person pulled up next to me and pushing them to the rear quick so I have more road ahead. Quick and agile, but if you're having fun you know you will pay for it! Average mpg city usually 14 to 17 with some coasts to the next light in there for sure. Then there's always the 30 minute scream for food known as lunch, hahaha

Reason: incomplete sentence
I drive about 70 miles to go to college and back and my fuel average has always been in the 23.8 range. I also drive at 75 to 80 mph when on the Highway.
I have an 08 rex and average bout 24-26 mpg as a DD commuting 72 miles round trip everyday. Now i did get 31mpg cruising to and from the beach. Just set the cruise and never got on it cept once or twice maybe.
I get about 230 miles per tank, and average about 19MPG's now that I'm Stage 2. I averaged 18 when it was stock. I'm all city, hardly ever on the highway.
I have a hard time driving for good gas mileage. I do an occasional spirit driving pull on atleast once or twice on every tank. (it's usually more than that)
Im not complaining b/c it's not why i bought this car.lol
Oh yea i just cleaned my maf and it runs a lot better and i save an additional 1.5 mpg.
