Basco,
I'm not being an @ss, really want to know and somehow don't already.

What's a blow through and what/how does it function?

You move the MAF after the turbo/bpv. Stock you're drawing air past the MAF before the turbo, with the blow-through you're pushing post-turbo air through the MAF, hence blow-through.

It gives you more accurate IAT temps since it sees post IC temps, and you can also now run an atomospheric BOV since the MAF is metering air after the BOV/BPV. The main benefit though is knowing post IC IATs.

ok.

That's why I said fmic.
on SR/RB/DSM/ I knew we could run vta bov if it was before the maf so the vent could be metered.
I kept seeing blow through and wondered if it was a new part or something.

Thanks for clearing it up!

its also said it helps with boost leaks when you run a FMIC. if your draw through and have a leak, some air will be thrown out but you'll still be running the same amount of fuel, timing etc. and the car will run rich and like crap. with the MAF moved right before the throttle body if there is a leak, it can tell how much air is about to enter the motor and adjust accordingly. of course it cant adjust as much as your tuner but you get the idea.

the down side is you wont know you have a boost leak because your car will run like stock! in draw through if you have a leak you'll be running rich and popping and farting etc. so with blow through i check for boost leaks everytime i do an oil change or before a tune just to make sure everything is tight.

So, is a blow through just a set up with the maf specifically right before the throttle body?
or any setup where the maf is after the vta,it's a blow through?

right before the TB is where it needs to go. that way it can take the most accurate temp and air volume measurments right before the combustion chamber. i guess though it could go anywhere in the cold boost tube as long as everything is sealed behind it (no BOV's). since the BOV can go in the hot side i guess it wouldnt matter where its placed as long as its in a long strait tube with no bends to close before or after it.

Lol
I'm sorry, I wasn't clear.
I understood the best place would be right before the throttle body, that's the only "safe" way I've known to run a vta bov.
What I'm actually asking is,
That's called a blow-through?
I just wasn't aware that was the name for it. We just literally always said
"Yeah, I ran the bov before the maf/maf right before tb" and sometimes would buy the piping at Lowe's and make 'em fit in the shop
Good to know I can save myself some time when talking haha.
I thought a Blow Through was some newfangled Air/Oil/IC system and had never bothered to read about it.
haha ignorance.

Thanks for all the fast replies, Syno!
