doing a swap in a friends 2008 wrx non sti was purchased with a bad engine and we got a good used engine but could not keep the brass out of it also his pcm if flashed by ????? we dont know hes running 20 psi boost and we where told the stock ej25 wont hold up to this boost and thats why he is burning up bearings.. we have a jdm 2.0 on way and are not sure weather to swap all stock engine components to the new engine and leave avc off or use the jdm pcm and swap only the components necessary like intake and exhaust and flip the harness over. any input on whats the best solution is greatly appriciated..
this is our first swap using a jdm engine
cobb saids we can not tune ther ### ecm but im sure some one has a tunnner out there that will.
is the avcs required on the jdm 2.0??
again any input is greatly appreciated

Quite a few of us have done various JDM swaps.

Since your doing the swap in an 08+ car make sure the motor you swap in has dual AVCS. If not it's going you can tune it out of the USDM ECU but AVCS is worth it.

Depending on the year the JDM ECU and Enigne it may not be compatible with your bulkhead harness.

You can't tune a JDM ECU with a Cobb AP. However you can get a AP from either Prova or Cusco to tune a JDM ECU or just use RomRaider or ECU Flash for an open source tune

There are quite a few things that will need to be swapped over to the USDM engine. Google will be your friend there are plenty of threads over on NASIOC and ClubWRX detailing the swap.

ok we got the jdm engine installed last night we changed the intake modified the exhaust to work cause the original exhause was messed up just had to install the air fuel sensor in the down pipe and modified the converter to work with the jdm turbo. ok anyway we did swap injectors intake crank sensor even tho the crank gear where identical. the ignition coils we swaped also. the jdm engine didnot have any way to use the air injection system so we had to leave it off aswell as trhe pvc sensors. engine runs but is trowing misfies on all 4 cyclinder we are going to swap out the cam sensors soon as i get more time to play with it but any one have any other sugestions would appreciate it thanks

"fixed"

ok we figured it out for some reason we dont know why but we had to swap the passenger side wiring to the coils and misfire gone ??? also any ideals why we are only getting 7 psi of boost on this jdm ej20 engine with the original pcm but we had 20 psi on the old usdm ej25 correct me if im wrong this is controled by the pcm right ?? or could it be the jdm boost control solonoid ??

whats the best way if any to tune out the pcv system and the air injection system to keep the check engine light off ???
besides a tunner shop we dont have one close by
