Downpipe for stock exhaust.

I was looking at getting a cobb downpipe for my stock exhaust but will it be more beneficial if I got with a different company and buy DP/full exhaust combo? When I say beneficial I mean in terms of hp gains. Also if I was going to do just the DP which one should I go with? I'm planning on installing it and then going to P&L to get it tuned. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here but I couldn't get exactly what I needed from searches. :(

Stay catted and go with either Invidia or Nameless for a brand IMO. Adding just a cat-back system will give you minimal gains though and more about sound. If you mean a FULL header back exhaust to accompany your DP you're def looking at some decent numbers if Protuned, but not enough to warrant the purchase of a header back setup IMO unless big HP is in your future mod plans.

Just get yourself a DP, CBE, and BPV if a simple stage 2 is what you're looking for. You buying an AP or doing OS tuning? And a CBE can be added on at any time, doesn't have to be when you're tuned.

Whatever dp you decide check how it fits to the stock catback. I know the cobb fits right up to your stock flange. Some you need a reducer that is sold. Not a big deal either way, but i would hate to have everything apart and have it need something else. Just a heads up.

I know the Invidia needs the reducer, not sure about the Nameless setup...prob does.

My Invidia didn't need a reducer...Granted I think mine was the first to roll of the line... :) Of course on the newer models they might be different...

There were also 15 commandments at that time.... :D

On a serious note... if the DP you're buying states it mates to a stock CB... then it should come with a reducer....."Should"

If it doesn't, send it back on their dime if you asked the question before ordering and they said "yes, it will mate to a stock CB".

Reducers are only like $20 anyways. Grimmspeed makes em. And your 11' will def need one OP if its the Invidia pipe, or any pipe if its a 3" just look at the diameter of what you're buying.

Propobly going to buy AP first and then go to P&L to get it tuned.

Will there be a significant diffrerence if I get a all around #' DP vs the cobb that goes from 3 to 2.5?

They'll be no real measurable difference stepping down in pipe diameter.

And you're 13' will need the reducer as well. That's what I have too.

Like mentioned, even with a Protune I'd say don't bother with anything more than a CBE (for sound if wanted, not performance reasons) on a 13' unless upgrading internals and turbo are in your future plans. There won't be a HUGE difference with a HBE on a stage 2 setup and that $800 for a header could set you up with some much needed suspension and shifter upgrades that the WRX desperately needs. Just my .02c
