so I'm at the tuner shop and they are pretty much laughing at my blow through set up, they said they never seen anything like that before, I did it exactly the same as synolimit did but I guess every shop has there own opinion. They also said I won't be able to run that set up with a bigger turbo, anyone know why

Its kinda unneccessary for most set-ups. I wouldn't think it'd hinder anything...did you ask them why they said that? I know Jeff Perrin was telling Chad to basically run a big MAF map to get your blow through set-up to work and just tune from there. So, idk. I think Chad just thought it'd be problematic....so, he kinda ducked it. Because of lack of time. I'm interested in hearing other opinions on why that'd be a limiting factor. Unless that tuner just meant if you change turbo housings you'd have to change the pipes around. I.E. run the older WRX/STI housings. Instead of running the LGT/08 WRX housing turbos.

I didn't ask why, but they found six boost leaks and the car doesn't have any hesitationg any more, its running pretty good now I installed my grimmspeed bcs tonight and I will be heading back up Saturday for my tune, I guess they're flying in a tuner that is one of the top ranked in the country and he will be tuning my car so that's a plus. This facility is really nice I'm glad I went to it, it was well worth the extra hour drive and I deff will be going back when I upgrade my turbo and supporting mods

Who is tuning the car, or where are they coming from? I know several of them that travel every so often to other shops to tune cars.

I still think the words it won't allow a larger turbo is misconstrued. Ask next time. Awesome man...I'm glad that its working out for you.

ok so I ran into a sweet deal today, I know someone that has a 2006 sti short block for sale with only a few hundred miles on it and before I get it I was wondering if I could use it in my wrx?

It'll work, I just bought one myself and stripped it down. The cases are identical, but the sti pistons are a bit different and I believe the rods are a bit stronger. Not sure on any crank differences.

You won't see much if you just swap it for your current short block (probably lose some power actually), but it's a great platform to build an engine.
