Cobb Down Pipe Install

Just ordered a Cobb DP yesterday. I will hopefully be installing it within the next few weeks along with installing Cobb AP OTS stage 2. I also plan on ordering an OEM turbo to DP gasket to replace the one on the car currently. Those of you that installed this DP or a DP in general on the 08+ have any recommendations or tips that would come in handy while attacking this task? It doesn't sound or look too difficult. The car currently is at a little more than 13k miles on it so hopefully nothing is too heated on. I found a few DIY links that should be helpful, but I'm hoping to hear opinions of your personal experiences. Thanks for the input. !Thumbs Up

Buy a can of PB Blaster and spray the DP nuts and CB. You probably won't need a new gasket... never hurts to have one on hand though. I've got nothing else for the new Gen.

PB blaster is always on hand when I have these sorts of projects :)
I'm going to get a new gasket. Don't want to take any chances, or be in the middle of it and find out I need one lol.

They are cheap enough. Change it. Do not reuse the old one!

I am lol. Like I said, I'm not taking any chances. I don't want to have a leak and have to take it apart again. I'd rather go the extra step the 1st time. :D

I thought Cobb sent you a new one with the DP?

Oh I didn't know that. I guess I will wait until I get the dp before I order a gasket.

Call and ask em.

I forgot how cheap the gaskets were for the Subies. The Speed DP gasket is like $75 from the dealer and $50 for an aftermarket one.

Yea I could do that.
Wow the one I need is like $20 lol :p. That's nuts for something like that. Does it have copper built into it :D

Probably platinum... smh

arewmors 07-25-2013 11:36 AM

The cobb dp does not come with any gaskets from what I was told earlier. Did anyone have problems with the studs on the turbo getting messed up?

You'll be ok. Just make sure the car is cold when you do it

Yea that would be a bad move lol. I wouldn't even think of doing something like that after it was running.
