Boost Gauge Install

Hey everyone, Cobb just released their stage 1/2 maps for the 2012 WRX + AEM CAI. I just ordered a SMY Clustermaker and AEM Boost Gauge to monitor the boost and make sure I'm using the right wastegate cycle map. I haven't installed the gauge yet since I'm waiting on the clustermaker to show up but I wanted to ask,

does anyone have a good link for a write up or video on how to route/wire the boost gauge in the newer WRX's?

Thus far I found a few how to's but they weren't for my particular gauge or on a 2012.

Thanks for any/all help,
Thepants

Mechanical or Electrical? Link ?

There should still be the grommet in the firewall like on the old ones. The only thing that MIGHT have changed is the tap for the power source.

It's electrical, here is a link

You get the harness with it ?

Nice gauge BTW

I got the SMY Clustermaker to mount it in. Here's the link:

Thanks, I think it's pretty nice but I'm also a noob so it's good to hear I'm not the only one.

No, did it come with the harness for plug-n-play ? If it did, the instructions are straight forward. Only thing to look for is the rubber grommet on the firewall.

To be honest I'm not sure. I think I have to use electric tape and setup the wires correctly, because I don't see a harness. How would I check?

pzr2874 02-03-2012 11:02 AM

Some have options to buy a harness which makes it an easy plug-n-play install. This one doesn't have an option after looking into it a little more. I haven't played with one of the newer gens so I wouldn't know where to tap the power (I am assuming you can use anything that has accesory power) like the clock or the cigarette lighter. I did the one in my Fozzy and it was a nightmare compared to my last WRX's.

Someone else may chime in. Ask Synolimit or RcrsWetDream as they have later models.

Good luck

do this...all 08+ are the same.

your directions should tell you what wire is power, ground, ACC, and maybe illumination if your gauge changes color for day and night. this link will tell you want fuse is what. and you dont have to just do those 3 loctaions as many are constant powers, ACC, etc.

bringing post back from the dead....

SO, i did this same exact wiring as described on in this picture(from wrxforums) and used the dude's method to tap the fuses.

1 problem. It won't shut off when i turn the car off!! I'm pretty sure its +12v constant fuse that the red goes into but i can't seem to figure out how to turn that ########## off!

I don't want it to kill my battery....anyone run into the same problem? !Cry!

If its not going off your on a fuse that's constant. You just need to find a ACC fuse. Use a light bulb tester with the car off and see which fuse has no power when off. Click the key on and watch the tester light up, there's your fuse.

This, or you must have wires mixed up.

ah! ok, yea i just read the supplied instructions...it says ACC power...this dude's write up says it has to be constant...cool man, thanks for the tip! ill check it out tomorrow!Thumbs Up
