Did you ever consider running the stock intake? Is it broken or something?

Anyone that replaces it....I mean you guys do realize that Subaru managed to squeeze 415hp out of a car with a stock intake?

Well personally I wanted to have the sound from it. I knew it wasn't going to help any performance.

If the stock intake is adequate, than the rest is just bling to me. I agree with Keith.
It is certainly very functional.

Yesss I know lol! But before we talk badly about $200 intakes, I think we should evaluate what exactly a $600+ CBE does for you...besides the same sound difference and minuscule HP gains that the $200 intake does. Sounds like the intake is the better but IMO. But I guess spending x3 the amount on a CBE is cooler...

An engine is a big air pump, the more air you get in and out the better it will preform. That being said if you get more air in, but don't give it a way to get out as fast you wind up making less power...That's why you always start with exhaust first which allows your engine to breath better then start forcing air into it. Then again what do I know....

Eeeehh...Not exactly. Going from a 3" to 2.5" pipe is hardly effecting HP with only a DP. If we were talking about just running an intake on a totally otherwise stock car, or an upgraded turbo on a 3" to 2.5" exhaust setup, then we can talk about silly mods. Whether gaining a few on the intake or CBE install, none of it really matters till WAY further in modding.

And in my case. Seeing an Injen intake needs to be tuned for, and that's the only CAI I was considering, it was an easy decision for me to install an intake first with the tune of the DP. Now I can save for my CBE and bolt it on whenever I want. Wouldn't really make sense for me to do it the other way around.

Most other people (myself included) also want the sound it offers over the stock setup. And at only $200 it's an easy decision for others to usual do an intake first as well.
