2nd ERZ DP, still not HAPPY!

well if you guys remember my review of the first ERZ DP: ERZ Performance catless DP???

DP to turbo flange was horribly cut with a gap for gasket and cut to large of an opening and pipe stuck out of the DP to midpipe flange.

Company i bought it off of said ERZ would send me a new one. well new one showed up.

1st, they still did not include the CEL fix elbow. i believe they didnt include it because they now sent me a catted DP when i wanted a catless DP. this flange does sit flush on a flat surface now but ERZ told me NOT to use there DP to turbo gasket and go buy an OEM one. so i did. and now they didnt include one of there DP to turbo gaskets and i feel thats a rip off. also the opening of the ERZ DP is still way off from the size of an OEM gasket. so blow by is still a concern, and the OEM gasket burning due to the gases will be blowing by at hot and extreme temps.

last time they also included all new hardware. this time i got nothing. a letter now says just use OEM bolts. Clearly to me this Co. does no R&D and you clearly get what you pay for!!

also im the kind of guy that HATES!!!!! when i tell you something and you dont do it. if i write you an email, and you can clearly read what 3 problems im having with you and you send me still no CEL fix, a totally different DP and all hardware is different you just made an ass of yourself and cant follow simple directions!

if you buy ERZ stuff i feel bad for you wanted to save $100 here and there. stuff is junk and wont be dealing with them a 3rd time. told all this to the Co i bought the DP off of. hopefully THEY will be taking care of me and giving me the Perrin like i asked after the 1st ERZ DP.

It surprises me they would send you a catted DP since that would theoretically be much more expensive. Anyway, sorry to hear about your problem but at least since you're reporting the results some good can come of it. Caveat emptor.

Thanks for posting this. Threads like this help people like me justify spending the extra money on quality parts the first time around. At the same time, I don't feel good when I read about problems fellow Subie owners are experiencing

Also at the same time I find it hard to swallow a 600 dollar downpipe from COBB.... I think I'll go with the Perrin for 500. Either way damn you catalytic converters and your precious metals!

well after further review here is what i came up with. The DP isnt a bad peice in all. 1st they DID fix the 3" pipe that was sticking out of the midpipe flange and the turbo flange does sit flat now. so thats a plus as thoughs were 2 problems i was complaining about before.

the only real issue i see with this one, is i dont think the gasket will seal properly in the lower left hand corner. before i said i was worried about blow by from the turbo hitting the gasket which would be hotter temps then the gasket would normally see and weaken it over time, but thats not true do to the fact its a factory gasket!! (DURR for me haha). however there gasket probably WOULD stick in the way and it WOULD fail over time do to hot exhaust gases blowing by because it would be sticking in the way of flow. reason why i say it will leak now if i use the OEM gasket is because the OEM gasket has a crush ring. since the ERZ opening is cut to large, in the lower left corner the crush ring wont be crushed and that concerns me. heres a pic of what i mean.

and of course on top of all of this, i dont even know if it will fit

Oi, that's pretty harsh... Can you get them to send you a gasket that fits since they shorted you on the hardware and the gasket? That makes me a little nervous for your man since the OEM gaskets are designed to fit the turbo housing perfectly, and if that doesn't fit the DP you're definitely going to have some leak issues (or blow by as you were saying) as well as needing a stock of gaskets and time to keep replacing them. I certainly hope for your sake that these issues are truly minor and you will have a long life with all your fittings here. Keep us updated with how it goes please!

RCRSWetdream, I bought a Perrin DP and it's a beautiful piece. I got the one piece, but I think it would have been nice to have purchased the two pipes and retained the two cats (just me), but it is all good.

Oh, the Grimmspeed gaskets are perfect too in case you need more OEM style, plus they're a little bit thicker as well and of quality construction. Just for an option

Any idea if the gaskets Perrin sells are not as good as the GrimmSpeed ones?
