25psi 2011 wrx. NEED ADVICE

I recently bought a used 2011 wrx. It has a Perrin CAI, Ultimate performance exhaust from the downpipe to the tips. Not sure of the brand of the downpipe.. It also has a Aem mechanical boost gauge and a digital wideband.

I am new to Subaru cars and I have been doing lots of research about mods and do's and dont's. The car runs really well, super fast and the wideband reads within normal parameters under boost and while cruising.

My question is, how do I know what tune my car is running? Id like to reduce the boost from 25psi to maybe 16lbs for daily driving and reduce the wear on the engine. Can a boost controller do this? Should I change the intake and buy the Cobb AP?

Feedback would be greatly appreciated

25 psi? Are you running E85? That's VERY aggressive for pump gas.

I would take it a local tuner (I don't know any FL shops) and ask for input.

25psi is what the boost gauge peaks at yes. I havent had it long enough to fill up the tank, but im assuming its just 93 octane. Is there anything else on the engine that is should look for that maybe shows signs of more mods? the turbo heat shield is still on, heard that breaks when removed sometimes.

Im thinking of taking it to Titan Motorsports a local tuning shop in Orlando

A shop can tell you what's done to it. Usually these are things you want to find out before getting the car though. I wouldn't buy a modded car without a complete list of mods on hand. :(

Yea i agree with the mod issue. Got it from a chevy dealer and being 2011 didnt seem too beat up.
Thanks for the advice.

I hope to get the Cobb ap tho!

Perrin got back to me, said i could get a custom map from them. Or should i just return the the intake back to stock or buy an aem/cobb intake and do a cobb shelf map??

I would find out what's done to the car first. You don't know all is done so there is no way you can tell a tuner what to tune for or if the OTS maps will even work for you.

Did you figure out if your still on stock turbo?

So my aem gauge is messed up and I ordered a new aem digital boost gauge. Gonna be in on friday of this week. So i think the 25psi is off by 5 or 6 lbs

I am looking for a the factory air box for my car and I will do the OTS maps with Cobb.. for a retune.

I will trade my Perrin intake for a factory airbox and 150$ on their side!

I strongly suggest you stay away from 25 psi until you figure out whats up tuning wise. you can be detonating like crazy.
CHECK IF PREVIOUS OWNER REMOVED THE MBC THEY WERE PROBABLY RUNNING BOFORE THEY TRADED IT IN. you could be running no boost control whatsoever and that's why you shoot up so high. I would imagine the oem rom would cut fuel though so it might have some sort of tune.:pity:

25 lbs is way beyond the limits of the factory turbo i would have thought....?
