2012 Subaru WRX

Hey guys,

So i finally got my 2012 wrx and it's a ton of fun! For christmas I also got the AEM CAI, Cobb AP, and the TXS BOV. I do have a question however!

When I checked the maps on the Cobb AP site, they only list the Stage 1 + AEM CAI map for 2008-2011 and haven't added the 2012 yet. Would I be in trouble if I used the 2011 map since the car wasn't altered (that I know of) in the engine? Also, I haven't used the AP yet but what should I look for as any signs of a bad tune? Like, how would I identify a knock or if i was running rich/lean?

Thanks for all your help!

Ahh my bad. After using the good ol' google machine I found out they haven't finished the AEM CAI map yet. guess I'll just go with the TXS BOV and do the AP tune without the CAI.

Yeah and if you e-mail/call Cobb they will tell you that they are working on the 2012 maps. They will be out with them soon.

Ya I'll just wait on their Maps to come out. And the BOV is TurboXS Hybrid Blow Off Valve Subaru WRX 2008-2012 / Legacy GT 2005-2009 at RallySportDirect.com

Why shouldn't I add it? It's for the 2008+ (incl 2012)

when you said BOV i thought you ment BOV and not a hybrid, OEM is a BPV. personally id stick to 100% recirculating but you might be ok. just get a good pro tune with everything.

I was planning on using the COBB AP tune for the 93 octane AEM CAI once they released it. Would I be better off using most of the washers on the BOV so that it's basically recirculating except under heavy throttle?

I wouldn't even put it on until you are ready for a pro-tune.

after 2 years i needed to install 1 washer. best way to find out is install it and start the car up. you will have to plug the inlet return with something. with it started you can reach your finger into the outlet hole and push up on the valve. with the car off this will be very hard to do. with the car on it will be very easy. if its to easy then you will leak and cause problems. with the car on it should still be a little difficult to move up and down.

Ahh thank you for the advice. So here is what I was thinking...

I think I'll just install the AEM CAI and use the Cobb AP tune for it once that's available. Otherwise, I'll just keep the BOV on hand for the future when I go with a turbo back exhaust and actually go for a full pro tune. Otherwise in the meantime I'll probably just run the AEM CAI and the Cobb specific tune for stock setup + AEM CAI.

At least that's what makes the most sense to me. Any thoughts? Does that seem like a good approach?

Sounds good once Cobb releases the maps.

Another question! Would I need a tune if I got the Grimmspeed EBCS (the 3 port)? Or would this work fine in conjunction with the 2012 WRX + AEM CAI Cobb tune (once it's released)?

Thanks for all the help so far btw. Very much appreciated!

EDIT::::::::: So sorry for wasting your time, good old google machine informed me that I need a pro tune to effectively use the Grimmspeed EBCS.
