2011 WRX need some parts knowledge

Alright so here it go's I'm planning on going stage two and trying to do it for the best bang for the buck.. So I came across a Perrin front down pipe for 200 bucks but haven't gotten it yet..would that work fine to go stage 2 or should I really get the full down pipe.. Intake k&n says the typoon intake makes 17 hp is that bs or should I look into getting a different brand one..and I noticed on some cai they don't go all the way to the throttle body they just cancel out the flex hose peice.. Is that a power loss.. And lastly ap vs Perrin tunning maps..
Thanks

Then it may not be the best bang for your buck.

Get a full downpipe and the intake that your Open Source tuner like/can tune for better.

The intake only goes up to the turbo inlet hose, basically up to the front of the intake manifold on the passenger side. The turbo inlet hose then connects to the turbo, which then connects to the intercooler, which connects to the throttle body hose, to the throttle body.

The intake is only the first 18" of the intake tract, and does not connect to the throttle body. I've never been into K&N... No experience with them personally, but they always just seem to be the big brand that I tend to avoid. Other, more subaru-oriented brands, for an intake would be KSTech, Perrin, AEM.

And looking at cobbs dyno sheet stage 2 doesn't really improve very much.now going stage two and getting pro tuned will that make a bigger difference or is it not worth going stage 2..

Stage 2 NON-ots tunes will make a big difference from the OTS tune.

You can call COBB and try to locate a tuner in your area or just wait for someone around here to chime in.

Good luck

My tuner said intake airflow is not an issue until you go over 450HP+. So, any claim that CAI's add HP is pure BS. CAI's that are installed without tuning for them will lead to lean burning conditions, which will be baaad for engine longevity !!! Most reputable CAI vendors will supply a tune to compensate for the change in airflow ... nuff said as there is an entire thread devoted to this ... bye

your tuner needs to start tuning newer cars then cause he's feeding you BS.

Yes the stock intake will limit power at some point but you can't say a bigger, smoother, better filter can't and won't add power, it's physically impossible. Tune anything and power increase can be seen.

Personally I think just flashing the Stage 1 from Cobb on your car will give you at least 6 months worth of fun. During that six months, save up for a full length down pipe and intake.

Yes, custom tunes can make more horsepower than Cobb's maps, but not all tuner's are created equal. I'm only 15 minutes from one of the top tuners in the country but I've been very happy with the Cobb stage 2 map for over two years now.
