2011 WRX Cat back worth it?
I have a 2011 WRX that I just got a couple months ago, and have been considering changing the exhaust to the SPT cat back direct from Subaru. I am wondering if it is actually worth the change from what came factory on the car.

I love the sound of the exhaust now, will the change drastically change that? and if so, will it be louder? Will I actually see hp gains? is it worth the money?

Someone bailed on it and it is sitting at the dealership waiting to be bought for a 'deal' price of $900, regularly around $1150. Is this a good price?

Last question, the parts and service people at Subaru advised that I install myself, and save the labor cost, telling me it is a simple 3 bolts to remove and reinstall, is this true?

Thanks in advance!

The only benefit to a CBE at your point is sound. There may be a few hp/tq out of it, but think less than 5hp.

Personally, I wouldn't get SPT because it's generally a smaller pipe than you can get with similarly priced competitors, but for $900 that's not a bad price.

Pretty sure you can get away with only removing two bolts on the un-install, and you probably have to tighten six bolts on the install... It'll take you an hour even if you suck.

Good price, but still over priced for what it is. Thats just my 2 cents tho.

ya still over priced when full 3"'s go for 500-600. 2.5" isnt really worth the time and their welds are junk. google broken SPT exhausts, the welds and pipe break all the time.

SPT exhaust is a bit over priced IMO for just sound. If you looking for just change in sound since a CBE doesn't provide a increase in HP. Check out Nameless, they make a Axl back exhuast for $300. You tube vidoes for sound clips. They look great and sounds really nice, I'm waiting for mine to come in hopefully this week or early next week.

Nameless is just a axleback that eliminates the muffler. For $300 that is kinda pricey.

I have the SPT exhaust on my WRX... it sounds great. It was already on the car when I bought it brand new, but if you aren't planning to squeeze every bit of HP out of it and like the sound then I say go for it.

I got the new WRX a couple weeks ago. Back in January I traded in my STI for a NA 2.5i wagon to try to save some money but I was so depressed every time I got behind the wheel that my wife said we could get a sports car for me again. Part of the deal was the car has to stay stock so no modding for me.

Glad to have you back Ken. It must've killed you to step down from a STI to a NA 2.5 impreza. The 3rd gens are pretty nice though. !Thumbs Up
