2011 WRX boost gauge install problems- Advice Please!
Hey guys I am new to this forum and the Subaru game but trying to do all my research and answer most of my questions myself but I hit a snag. I installed my Defi imperial boost gauge on my 2011 WRX Sedan today. Everything went well as far as the install and wiring and operation of my gauge but I ran into a problem with my switched 12v source and illumination. I used add a line fuse taps for the 12v, 12v switched and illumination. I hooked the 12v up the fuse #11 (battery +) and it works fine. I used the #24 fuse (audio unit) for 12v switch and the gauge comes on and sweeps with the key IGN positon fine and the gauge functions great with the car running. My issue is the audio unit does not work. I can dissconnect the add a line and put the fuse back in and the audio unit works but then obviously my gauge does not. I have also tried # 26 which is power window relay/ radiator fan and the same happens, gauge sweeps in IGN 2 position and works normally but power windows do not work. I switched back to the audio fuse because i dont want to chance my radiatior fan not working. Also for the dimmer/ illumination wire i tapped into fuse #16 which is illumination but it does not change the brightness of the gauge whether my lights are on and off. I may try 2 more options tomorrow (switching 12v switched to the acc fuse and the illumination to the position lights fuse) Has anyone else had issues with this and if so could you please advise me on what you did to remedy the situation? All insight is more than welcome! Thank You

ACC is what you should have used from the get go. thats a good source for eveything that needs a switched power. the brightness im not 100% but these should be your 3 to use

Thank You for the advice im going to try switching that out tomorrow, I may also just remove the add a line fuse taps, I have heard of people having problems with them just not working right. Have you had any problems with yours just running the wires to the fuses like that (blown fuses or anything not functioning correctly) ?

I ended up trying to switch the fuse taps to the fuses you used. Those things are junk. after my gauge would not even power up. I ended up just ripping all them off and wiring it in exactly like you have yours. Powers up and sweeps with the rest of my gauges and works correctly along with my windows and radio! Thanks again for the help

If it were possible to do it twice I would but I already did.
