18.5 psi
Hi Guys...

My car use to pull 13.4 psi with stock bpv
Now i got GFB bpv/bov set to 60in 40 out
Now my boost is showing at 18+
Is that even possible?
Just with changing out the stock bpv?

pzr2874 05-25-2012 05:39 AM

What EM are you running? What mods?

That's not a good thing if it's completely stock.

wrxPaulie 05-25-2012 07:53 AM

no mods at all
I'm talking with Perrin ppl about the Cobb AP
cause i have perrin CAI, i took it of
after getting my ear chewed out by other forum dudes lol ( ty guys )
Looks like im goin back to 100% stock untill I get my Cobb AP
CIA and BOV map 93oct

pzr2874 05-25-2012 07:56 AM

What boost is the 2012 supposed to hit stock?

What are you using as a gauge?

newtothegame 05-25-2012 09:41 AM

Just and FYI, a BOV is not able to be tuned for. Pretty much the only way to use an aftermarket BPV/BOV successfully: Upgrade to the point where the stocker is insufficient; go blow-thru setup; or switch to a speed density instead of MAF type setup.

wrxPaulie 05-25-2012 06:13 PM

I think stock 2012 runs at 14.3 but mine peaks 18+ after the switch
I'm using the AeroForce OBII gauge thing

pzr2874 05-25-2012 07:22 PM

Get an electrical boost gauge to see what you are ACTUALLY hitting. Never heard of AeroForce. Ultragauge and scangauge is what I've seen.

You have a buddy that has an AP,SG or UG? Did you reset your ECU after you put the CAI on?

wrxPaulie 05-25-2012 08:58 PM

The AeroForce is a scan guage,
I did have CAI but I took it off after getting schooled big time by one of the guys on the froum lolol
Now the car runs fine but just higher boost.
I know we cant tune bov;s and all but that all I changed on the car.
Im getting the stage 1 93oct Cobb AP next week so we will see.
Then Ill put the Perrin CAI back on

thack03 05-26-2012 06:14 AM

Honestly. it would be better for your car to remove you BOV as well until you can protune for it. I'm not sure if it's as bad for the new wrx's but for 02-07 wrx's it is terrible for the car to run a BOV without a tune, because the stock BPV recirculates the excess boost from the turbo, back into the intake preventing your car from running rich and accounts for the unsafe jump in boost for a factory tune, especially if you're running a factory dp which restricts your turbo when trying to pump through that air. Just stay stock, get an AP or tactrix cable and opensource tune with a turboback exhaust for stage 2. As soon as you get a protune through on all your extra parts if you would like.

wrxPaulie 05-26-2012 02:11 PM

GOnna go back to stock
then I'll look at the boost again and see it it comes back down to normal
With the exception of axle back nameless but that don't do nothing
just sounds amazing

tyvm guys

synolimit 05-26-2012 02:57 PM

a 60/40 BPV shouldnt hurt anything. also shouldnt mess with the boost. in fact it cant, no way, no how, ever!!

boost is all turbo, wastegate, tune and EBCS. a BOV/BPV just releases the pressure in the system when you let off the gas. thats it. you can however lose boost though if the BPV is leaking off boost. you can make your car over boost if your in high gear, to low of an rpm and going up a hill.

still wish you'd stay out of boost all together till you get the tune!! the green line is bad OEM knock. hope you ringlands like that kind of detonation.

thack03 05-26-2012 03:23 PM

Ok yes typing a rant at 4am doesn't help, I was wrong about it affecting boost. None the less remove it til you plan on tuning for it.

wrxPaulie 05-26-2012 10:37 PM

I went 100% stock now
My boost in back to 14s
So somehow I was over boosting ( idk how to call it)
Now AP time
So if I order AP with CAI and the GVB bpv I should be oki, right?

pzr2874 05-28-2012 06:05 PM

If you keep the Perrin you have, Perrin will send you a base map for it. Look on the map notes for the stage you are wanting and stick to it EXACTLY.

atech34 05-29-2012 01:48 PM

Did you properly adjust the pretension spring screw on the GFB Bov? It is was stops your boost from leaking out of the Bov, and if I am not mistaken it comes out of the box at soft.
