09 WRX Perrin SS=lose your finger nail!!!!

Perrin short shifter came in today. over all im pretty happy. shifts are really short and its adjusted in the middle, not the shortest shift, not the longest shift. it is really tight though! are all SS like this? im sure its the shift rod to the tranny rubbing on the rubber boot that keeps the hot and cold out. i saw people say you need a strong arm and need to get used to it since a SS raises the height of the shift rod up and rubs the boot.

then i installed the front bushings and i say its no different. the SS tightened everything up and took all the play away to begin with but there in there so who cares.

O YEAH!!! as for losing my finger nail! the first thing you need to do it pull up on the ebrake plastic cover and boot. well i did that!! used my left and right hands with fingers under the plastic cover and pulled up. when the clips gave way my right ring finger must of caught the ebrake metal or something on the inside and ripped my whole nail CLEAN OFF! didnt hurt for about 20mins though and just throbs now. took a huge chunk of skin off too on my right middle finger! fun times!!

EDIT!!!!! and yes i spelled it YOUR in the heading, just love this site!!!

I changed it to your and it took just fine. I think you typed U R by accident. Far less painful than missing a fingernail

i just installed the perrin SS a week ago. it was crazy stiff (tight) at first. hated how tight it was. i must have taken it apart and adjusted it 7 or 8 times.
not sure what i did but now it is at the shortest throw distance and not tight at all. i love it. 100 times better then stock.
