09 Wrx Mods

I'll be deploying to Jalalabad Afghanistan for 13 month on august 3rd and upon my return home will be trading my 09 honda civic si coupe for a 09-10 WRX. My question is this, I'll be budgeting my spending to about 3k worth of performance mods and would like to know whats gonna give me my best bang for my buck. As a side note I do understand the importance of breaking in a new car properly before mods, I would like not to put to much strain on the car as it will be a daily driver for another 6 years of college. I also do understand that I could come up with my own answer through these knowledgeable forums but simply do not have the time to troll and weigh out my options as I wont have internet access while deployed. Any recommendations you have I'd love to hear. Thanks.

The best bang for your buck will be spending the extra funds on an STi.

Seeing as a sti is roughly 8k more doesnt fit into my budget as I'll be buying a bike as well as an engagement ring. I'm also not a fan of the 5 door

Check out this article. Forget the K&N intake and custom tune and you'll have one heck of a ride and you'll be under your 3k limit.

personally I would go with Cobb DP, SPT catback, AccessPort, K&n panel filter, and a pro-tune.

that should put you at a good Hp level.

You may want to look for a used 09 WRX and then get a built block and an access port for it... I'm seeing a ton of 09's popping up with bad motors. This way you will be able to handle almost any additional mods. Hind sight being 20/20, that's how I would have started out.
