Are there any brake upgrades or transmission upgrades in the near future? The wrx transmission can only take so much hp/tq and if your brakes aren't up to par for the power it is capable of then that power doesn't much matter.

Great looking car by the way. Red is quite rare and more rare now that you can't get them in red any more.

Thanks man, I really wasn't sure about the red when I bought new back in 08 but it's growing on me. I'm looking at getting some used sti brembo breaks, hopefully I deal comes my way. As far as transmission I don't ever get on it in first or abuse the tranny, I've heared the 08 + have a somewhat better quality tranny then the 06 07s. But when it does go boom ill be looking at a 6speed or ppg gears, gotta do some more research to see what my best route will be.

Probably wouldnt hurt to upgrade your stock plastic bpv to a more sturdy aftermarket one that can handle more pressure. Might I suggest a forge :sneaky:

I was going to but a lot of my friends with bov have problems. My tuner said hes never seen a problem with the stock one under 400whp, I rememeber him saying our stock ones handle up to 30psi (correct me if I'm wrong)

You shouldnt have a problem with a bov unless it is leaking or 100% vent to atmosphere. The following is taken straight from unabombers manifesto bov faq. Have the OEM BPVs changed over the years? Yes. 08+ Subarus have a BPV that is plastic. So if you for some reason you have a plastic BPV, it will not hold as much boost as the old metal ones. The plastic ones will only hold ~17PSI give or take.

Good to know, ill look into it. I have a good friend with the same set up as mine on an 07 wrx and he's been running it since early 2009 with the stock bov and no problems. Honestly one of the reasons I went this route is cause of him, he's had no problems what so ever with his car and is reaching 80k miles 330whp, great gas mileage (depending on driving habits), 4 door, AWD, I'm getting off topic here lol but what a great car

boo-key 09-22-2013 07:05 AM

His has the metal bpv. Yours has the plastic one. They changed in 08.

arewmors 09-22-2013 09:38 AM

I recommend the forge bpv. Great product for a decent price.

BLAZE2099 09-22-2013 12:09 PM

^ no , Cobb XLE!!!!!!

Yes BOV's do cause your friends problem because they are atmospheric. You want a good BPV.

Forge and Cobb are both great products.
Stay away from turboXS and HKS for this product. These companies other parts are great. Although they should stop making BOVs immediately!

Good luck OP;)
Lightning red and yellows FTW!!!!!!

I prefer Forge over COBB for one reason only... price

$150 vs $300

Does the same damn thing.

subarupdx 09-22-2013 02:53 PM

Ill have one ordered next week, thanks for all the help and advice!

BLAZE2099 09-22-2013 03:08 PM

True Paul. I'm just one of those whores who doesnt like too big of a mix of brands under my hood.

pzr2874 09-22-2013 06:01 PM

Wish that were the case on my Speed.... COBB only makes so much stuff...

BLAZE2099 09-22-2013 07:39 PM

I'll probably keep the entire build on mine to about six brands between HP and suspension
Which is still too many for my taste
