08 WRX low rpm stutter

Last week i bought a 08 wrx with 28k

Currently i installed

spt catback
cobb tuner
k&n
Turboxs Hybrid 50/50 bov

The issue i have is around 2500 rpm the engine seems to sputter not like its gonna stall just like dead on power then all kinda power as rpm go up to 2700-3k. It dont matter what map i use stock or stage 1 93 oct or any between. Is this the turbo spooling? It was like this before the BOV so i know thats not the issue.

Thanks for your help and sorry if this is covered elsewhere i searched around but not sure what to call this.

If you read the COBB notes on "stage1" you will see that the tune is not designed for anything but the modifications that are on the notes :

Hardware Requirements: Otherwise stock vehicle with a STOCK INTAKE SYSTEM ONLY. The addition of any other hardware may make the vehicle perform poorly.

Fuel Requirement: 93 or 94 octane. If detonation is present, you
should use octane booster or switch to a calibration developed for a lesser quality fuel <-- not sure if this pertains to you as I don't know what fuel you run up there.

Go get your firmware updates as well.

The only thing that is with what you have is the catback. Go get a protune or take the BOV and intake off... You are in fact running lean

A pro-tune will fix your issue. If you use off-the-shelf, generic maps, you must stick to the specified map notes. Any major deviation from them will cause problems like the one you're experiencing.

my money says the k&n is the issue (cobb not setup for it) I was running a perrin intake without a pro tune and had the exact issue

Ok i figured out the problem. I was using the 93 octane map and apperently the gas station was not pumping 94 like it said. I put a bottle of octane boost just to try and it no longer has the sutter.

You mean 93 octane....because no one pumps 94.

Actually, 94 octane is available in some places Kirt. Although, I haven't seen it in quite some time. Did they stop selling it alltogether?

Sunoco used to sell purple gas in east york at one point too....But, I won't spend the money on race gas. That gas station that use to sell that got closed down too. So, who knows.

Yes I did mean 93. I also did an experiment to test this and put 89 in and the problem returned. Used a quarter tank and put octane boost in and issue was gone. I have lowered the map to the 91 octane one to see if the gas effects it anymore.
