08 perrin CAI vs. drop in filter

im getting a surgeline tune and trying to decide if i want to get it with TBE and a perrin cai or TBE and a k&n drop in filter. can anyone tell me what kind of gains i would see with these two setups? any turbo lag? will the power from the intake be seen in the higher rpms and not so much in the lower?

What kind of EM are you planning on using? Many restrict you from using aftermarket intakes.

im using the accessport but im getting a protune from Tim Bailey at surgeline tuning and he asked me if i would rather have it tuned for a k&n drop in filter or if i wanted to buy a perrin cai from him and tune for that. i told him i would get back to him in a day or two, although i believe the one he is selling me is the older model because perrin recently updated their intake for the 08. im sure that i could just buy the intake elsewhere and tell them which one i got and they can tune for me. so can you tell me anything about these products that could help me make my decision?

First off, you need one designed for the 08+ WRX or I think an LGT (05+). One designed for an 02-07 WRX won't work.

Anyway, if you're getting a pro-tuned, there's good gains from the intake. It's just they're all different and base maps won't work well for em. Since he's taking care of the custom tuning I'd definitely go for it. The 08's intake is a POS unlike the 02-07.

Personally, I would just go with a K&N drop in and a turbo inlet...unless your planing on big power in the future

That's an 02-07 answer. He has an 08. His intake is a piece of crap. Yours is not.
