worth my warrenty?

I bought an 04 wrx recently. I love the way that it drives but am very interested in moding it. I don't have much experience working on cars and don't know if i should start with this one. I have searched other threads and found that my warrenty will probabaly be void if i mod the car. I could sell it back to the dealership if i dont want it, but first i was wondering how many warrenty probalems that people have had before 100,000 miles, of if i should expect to put some repairs in before that. And on a side note i think i could sell the warrenty back for about 2k, and was curious if i could get a decent start with that kind of cash or if i would need alot more. thanks for reading my short novel.

You could get some good go fast bits with $2k. You might want to check to see what would void a warranty. Turbobacks, drop-in air filter, things of that nature should not void the warranty so it just comes down to ECU tuning.

In my case, I installed the Cobb AccessPort and my car is still under warranty. Many threads on the AccessPort here. My dealer sells the AccessPort's; they were the one's that recommended I install it.

Good luck. And welcome to this forum.

Oh... and is it worth 'voiding' a warranty? Yes! I am not too mechanically inclined, but I have to say that I really enjoy working on my car, at the expense of the warranty. Helps me learn about it; plus I like the idea of doing the work myself. Sort of addicting. I can't wait until I finally install a new turbo.

i have 75000 miles now and bought the extended warrenty for about 1500, which is now expired, and i wish i never would have purchaced it. I havent had a single problem.
I dont think a dealer would buy back the warrenty, but if you can sell it back go for it.

If my dealer would buy my warranty back I'd do it in a heartbeat. My 04 just turned 49k and haven't had any problems thus far, nor am I expecing to. You could 2k into quite a bit of power and not have any problems.
+1 for trading warranty for 50+ hp!

There aren't many members here with a clean warranty still on their cars.

I say go for it, I did.

I bought the extended warranty for something like $2k. I had my car modded within the first month and decided the I didn't want the extended warranty anymore(I bought the car new). All I had to do was go to a notary and have them verify the milage and the dealership gave me back some of the money. I got like $1700 back and they took it off the amount I had to pay for the car.

Did you guys all go to a Subaru dealership?? I bought my 07 with 6 miles because I didn't want anyone to have touched it before me and I didn't purchase any warranty, it just came with one. I wish I had an extra 2k!! !Cry!
