Rookie Forum guy

HI!

This is my first time on the forum, but my second WRX. Had an 03 sedan a couple years ago and just talked the misses into a clean silver STOCK 03 wagon. How I have missed the fun Just love the tech info and learning from other peoples experience. Looking at light mods to eliminate the dead spot below three grand and the loss of power above 6500 revs. Better fuel economy too.

welcome back! I would definitely go with atbe and some sort of engine management. Dpending on your level of experience, you could go with open source, if not, then cobb apv2

Matthew
Wow, it can turn well too?

Thanks! I have just started looking at turbo timers to avoid the extra wait of letting things cool down. Anyone have real dyno numbers and experience installing the access port and exhaust? What is a good intake set-up?

i've heard turbo timers aren't neccessary due to our turbos being water cooled and some other rambling about how the new subarus are ok without it. i wouldn't waste that money man u don't have that many mods. i have installed both of those. and as for intake drop in k&n filter, or short ram intake with heat shield W/HEATSHIELD, cobb map notes for ap says no intake other than stock because thats what they tested with. i run an short ram with pos heat shield so i am guilty of disobeying the map notes but. i would wait to get intake.

Thanks. I guess what I am wondering about is coking the turbo. Does it need to idle after running for cooling? That accessport looks great. Any reliability issues? Does it work as advertised? Tell me how you all like it.

you will not cook your turbo with that setup. if you run the piss out of her yes take it for a 5 minute cool down lap and if you don't take it for a lap let it idle for a minute to get the circulation through and cool a little. that will suffice. just as long as you don't run it then turn it off all the time. and don't you think in the future you might upgrade turbos. so who cares about our peeshell turbo. i have a second stock turbo from my 05 inmy garage. oh and best price is at cobb tuning .com or ebay but thats sketchy.
