Any oil that the API stamp doesn't say "energy conserving or resource conserving" is the better of the oils. Those stamped w "energy/resource conserving" shear down a weight for better better gas mileage. Take a look at Rotella T6 and mobil 1 0w-40. Those two are the better of the oils you can use in these subarus. Rotella and Mobil 1 0w-40 don't shear and you will see little to no oil consumption.

Our car Club oil expert, who is an Amsoil Rep, agrees Shell's Rotella T6 is a great oil for hard driving at the track. It's designed for transport turbo diesels, and therefore good for sustained hard use and turbos.

It's also got the largest market share (18%) of any single transport truck engine oil.

Rotella T isn't bad either. Just a heavy start up weight. That's why I like the stuff I run right now. Less time waiting for the car to warm up. FOL
