I get so many different opinions on this. I've read both ways, don't use ots maps for a long time and others say you can run it for a long time and have driven 100k miles with no issues. I wasn't planning on a protune for a while. How long can I go on an ots tune?

Opinions are like @ $ $ holes! Everybody has one! Enjoy your ots map bro! You're fine. Not everyone has access to a reputable pro tuner either. Remember that! Have Eric tune you up one day! 85 bux

Some people's miles may very on this subject. There is no definitive time table, but a protune is recommended in your future is all I'm saying. It'll be tailored to your car and I'd find a Cobb certified tuner near you or a shop that specializes in subies with a high reputation to do the protune.

You're just lucky that Cobb made LWG and HWG maps for your gen if the normal map isn't quite right. That can fix little issues. OTS is generic and bland. Every car reacts differently to mods and the OTS are safe roughly for most.

Well for now I'll stick with the ots tune. Maybe next summer I will look more into a protune and or etune. I actually live right by innovative tuning. I've heard good and bad as you usually do from many shops. I just have a hard time trusting some one I don't know with such an important thing.

Yeah, its kind of a big deal. That's why Cobb certified means that Cobb gives them a stamp of approval to tune for AP. They as of late send out a representative or two out to the shop and show make sure they pass their guidelines for tuning. My local shop just got GTR and Mazda certified and Cobb sent out two representatives from their main office to give my tuner a little education on the GTR and mazda programs. Now, he is licensed as a tuner for EVOs, STIs, GTR, and Mazdas. He also does OS tunes...so, my tuner can do various kinds of tuning.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check out the tuner by me over the next year and see. What else should I look for in a tuner to see if they are worth letting them touch my car?

Beyond word of mouth...idk. You can check if they're Cobb certified on Cobbs website btw.

On the passenger side of the windshield motor cover. There's a small flat spot on it only on the passenger side. Looks good there.
