Whats up wrxtuner members. Ill start out with a little backround first wont write a novel tho. Im a Graduate of the general motors automotive service education program been working at the dealer for 2 1/2 years now, been working on cars since i can remember(pops is a 30 year A-tech always needed some help in the driveway) anyways i do trannys, passenger and diesel diagnosis and repair, as well as hybrid service. so as far as technical or diagnosis questions i wont have many. however i am new to wrx's i recently purchased a 2002 wrx silver 5 spd with 60k for a decent price. my plans are to have a fast dd/ quick 1/4 mile(on ocasion)/decent road course contender. ive been reading the different forum sections for a while now and have learned alot about these cars.eveyone on here seems very knowledgeable and friendly. I already know i want to run an 18g with supporting mods, meth inj,and i will upgrade tranny later or if it breaks. i want to be at around 350-375 whp. will this be possible on stock block.also which tuning equipment do you guys suggest i was thinking cobb ap would be ok but could be wrong. i have experience with v8 domestic cars just need a lil more info on these awesome opposed 4's..feel free if u have any questions or comments.thanks.

If you have everything under control you're going too slow..
The Cobb would work just fine for you power goals.
The EJ20 (stock WRX block) can handle that kinda power but not over a long period of time. And it will take a lot more to reach that goal to than if you did a EJ25 swap (Stock STI block)..your weak point will be your tranny, stock Valve train, and the stock WRX Internals.
PPG's will run ~ $6105 for Dog Gears Helical ($5885 Straight cut) and $4675 w/synchro same for straight.
To reach 375whp you would need to look into a 20G turbo or even a GT35 type sized turbo.
Starting mods to get you in the right track would be Turbo Inlet, Full Turbo Back Exhaust, Headers, engine Management, and an up-pipe.
ok so sti short block will work right..install not a problem. i was already looking a brian crower cams(272's) any expierence with these or any info on how good they are.trans not an issue was thinking of a 6 spd swap ne ways.. straight cut lil too noisey for me and a lil outta my price rage for the moment..gt35r would be nice.. buddy down in Nj has one on his evo thing is outrageous love the pull it has..

The STI short block will bolt up to your WRX Heads with out much issue...just be sure to do a little head work so your build will last for more than 3 races. The 6 speed is a little bit more involved. You will need new axles, hubs, and rear diff. The GT35R kit could easily push you to the ~450whp range if done correctly.
Honestly the 6 spd is like mentioned above more involved and usually more expensive and not as strong as the PPGs. The helical are not as noisy as the straight cut, but still have the whine to them.
