New to the community Intro

Hey everyone I have been deeply inlove with subarus since the first time I heard one come through my neighborhood I could never forget the sound and rumble it made it was music to my ears haha. So I have had some crazy different cars since then a 69 Ford Probe, a 98 Eclipse GS, a 95 VW Passat Wagon, and now i own a 2006 Dodge Charger wich is now the family car, got married and have two kids now so I have been busy and never did get the chance to own one yet. So just recently my wife has given me the pass to use my tax money next year put a down payment on a subaru of my choice!! So until then I am looking at everything and looking for advice in buying a WRX model cause I'm worried about STI insurance being higher? Is it? And what do you guys think is a good year, I'm looking at 09-13

Welcome, and great choice in autos.

I'd ask your insurance company about rates for vehicles you're considering owning in advance. My '09 STi was less than my '04 WRX is, by about $10/month. Both were less expensive that my '04 Altima before them.

In Canada insurance rates are apparently set by the history of claims for a particular vehicle, so the '04 WRX likely had more claims than my '09 STi.

Haha that's great. Yea I actually was totaly set on an 04-05 wrx or sti and then my wife saw the 2010 wrx hatchback and fell in love with it and she has never liked any of the other impreza years. So she basiclly said she wants me to get a newer one and exactly for the more room for the kids too. Its nice to have people to ask questions too also here.

09-10 will be more calm in appearance.
The 11+ is the aggressive wider body.

Just food for thought

Well if you're into HB, and enjoy the wide body's. Than 08+ STi is all the same in that style. Plus an 08 can be had for cheaper.
Please make note that these cars hold great value though. So a savings? Yes. But nothing like what you would see from an N/A eclipse.

This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi S203 and S204. The VF42 features a twin-scroll design with a slightly larger compressor than the VF36/VF37 turbos and different turbine design (more blades). The VF42 is a roller-bearing turbo and is similar in size to the VF22 turbo, but the twin-scroll exhaust housing yields faster spool-up and a superior top-end.

IHI VF43

IHI VF42
This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi S203 and S204. The VF42 features a twin-scroll design with a slightly larger compressor than the VF36/VF37 turbos and different turbine design (more blades). The VF42 is a roller-bearing turbo and is similar in size to the VF22 turbo, but the twin-scroll exhaust housing yields faster spool-up and a superior top-end.

IHI VF43
(250-325whp, Bolt-On)
This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the MY07 USDM Subaru Impreza WRX STI. It can be found on both base STI's and STI Limited's.
