BOV Install requires a tune?

Hello there i'm new to the site just purchased my 2010 WRX sedan yesterday and i've been researching i want to do a BOV as my first mod (that i'll be making to the vehicle) i've read that installing a atmospheric BOV may require me to tune the vehicle afterwards? Just checking if i should be concerned about it or if it's BS

BOV isn't an option even with a Protune man. Most people still have problems. Stick to a BPV if anything.

As most people mentioned already; a vent to air BOV isn't a very popular first mod since your car uses a MAF tune.

A "Vent to atmosphere BOV" causes the vehicle to run incorrectly since it allows air that has already been accounted for by the ECU to escape the intake system (Makes the car run poorly).

A better alternative would be recirculating the BOV if you choose to use one. Another alternative for your car is a more free flowing intake or a simple stage 1 reflash. Both of these options should provide better driveability than a vent to air BOV as a first mod.

It's been a long time since we have had this question on here as everyone has stated stay away from any bov. Even the hybrid ones can be a problem.. I switched from a turbo xs one and it was day and night when I switched back to the stock on. Huge difference. Cobb ap is a good first mod along with a downpipe. Straight to stage 2

You can't fix something that screws a closed loop boost system into a open loop system by tuning for it. The only good way to run a BOV is to get tuned for Speed Density(Read:you have no need for a speed density tune at this point). So, In short....don't touch a BOV and research the crap out of a recirculated BOV before you even begin to think that you need it and which one is better than a cheap part. It causes too many headaches if you don't go for quality over quantity with this decision.

Alright Guys thank you appreciate it! already got a full exhaust from perrin up and down pipe and the dual catback. Any advice on what to do for the next modification?

Maybe a 3 port and a good protune from a reputable tuner and shop. And a Cobb access port idk if you have that yet or not man. Maybe a good set of tires and some suspension work.

alright i def am thinking of the cobb v3 i believe it is but are there any tunes that are preset to run a bit better or am i on my own? and i was thinking about the cobb short ram intake any problem that could happen with that?

Thanks for the heads up on the tune issue i've felt it run funny seems to waste a lot of gas too could that be part of it? and what should i get to tune it is a Cobb V3 good?

Also about the Map sensor with the intake what's the difference between the cobb sensor and OEM?

Sorry guys for totally being a noob i'd like to do some more research on my own as well as to what are some good tips about the car what to do and not to do could anyone point me in the right direction?
