Talking Another New Guy

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking on the forum for a few weeks now, and I've decided to finally post something. First off, most of you guys have a wealth of information, and don't mind sharing. For that, I'd like to thank you on behalf of us newbies.

At present I don't own a WRX; I had plans to buy a 2012 limited this year but unfortunately life got in the way and I will be needing back surgery. While the decision not to buy was pretty much made for me, it's sort of a blessing in disguise.
I've been posing myself the same question I am sure many of you have been: "Do I buy the 2012 or wait for the redesigned 2013??" While there is some information out there, I'm very curious to see how the new 2.0L turbo will stand up to the current 2.5L turbo. One of my good friends very recently purchased a 2012 limited, and picked me up last weekend to take it for a spin. It was AWESOME! I've never driven anything quite like it before, so here's to hoping the 2013/2014 don't change TOOOO much.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello.

I do have a question for you all, If there was one thing you could do over (in respect to your car), what would it be?
For instance: "I wish I had listened to my elders and didn't buy an intake first."

Cheers!

I think most of what will come (2013) is all rumor, from what I've gathered.

If there was one thing I could do over... Hmmmmm

Mine would be, not moving my DCCD to full rear on my old STi and having a boulder come out of nowhere and slamming into my car.

Welcome BTW

Welcome to the forum. I kind of stand with Paul on the rumors. But at the same time, driving (and owning) both a 2.5 and a 2.0 WRX, the torque that can be made from that extra half liter is what really sells me on the bigger engine.

One thing I would change about my car....never go past stage 2. I love the power and everything, but now all I want is more and more and so on.

It would have to depend on if they bring twin scroll to the USDM market place from the factory. Twin scroll and dual AVCS would make a 2.0 L pretty fun if its still a rev happy lil motor like a EJ207. Granted this engne will be a new design and we can all speculate on what it could be...but, its still all rumors at this point.

One thing I would change is probably not buying a RAW engine and then killing that first built engine because I was in a rush. Never again. It would've been overkill but a new Crawford or Cosworth built engine would've been nice and probably cheaper than building two engines at this point.

Welcome to the forums.

Probably...its a good and bad thing at this point. The RAW blocks aren't looking as reliable as the reputation used to be. So, that block was probably doomed one way or another.

If I could change one thing I would have bought a Terminator instead, instead of 50K+ to have 500whp I would have spent less than 8K
