thanks for the responses guys...i had no clue what to expect from the new s4 with a v8. I cant wait to see what he says when he gets smoked by a car that was half the price as his s4.

Only let us know if there are timeslips involved. If there is no timeslip, there was obviously no track involved.

I almost bought a 2000-2002 S4 until I talked to a mechanic who runs a shop right next to my work who works on take a wild guess.......VW/Audi. The cars are so problematic it isn't funny. He always has a healthy surplus of audis and vws in the parking lot to work on. Anyways, I couldn't be any happier with my purchase. I'll be a Subaru fanboy for life. Was even thinking about getting a B9 Tribeca for my wife once her lease on our 2005 Chrysler Pacifica is up.

Garage
audi is like a subaru with twice the cost and four times the problems

WRX roughly equivalent to S4
STi roughly equivalent to RS4

Actually, my wife drives a 2001 Audi A6 2.7t. No troubles so far, but it also only has 39k miles on it. Audis, for the most part, are decent cars. Once the warranty runs out on this car next year I'll be chipping it and putting some swaybars on it - maybe even an exhaust.

It's the VW's I hear horror stories about.

If you are a good driver you can get an s4 to do high 13's stock, stock for stock s4 is faster but i'm not sure about the 06 because they have a differente engine now.

I've seen stock 06's run high 13s before... with a good driver it can be done

The s4's get a lot of their power in 4th and 5th like a lot of other 6-speed cars. If your stage 2 and he's stock, you shouldn't have much of a problem with him.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but lets clarify, 00-02 S4 have twin KO3 turbos, RS4s have twin KO4s. I believe they skipped a year and dropped the N/A V8 in 04. Everyone who said weight is the downfall for Audis is correct. I have an 03 A4 1.8T with a GTR28 and about 300hp at the crank. It does real well in corners, but forget about straight line or dragging. I love it, but Im over it (maintenance costs are ridiculous) Thats why I am here to shed a few pounds and ditch the audi for a suby. By the way, like previously stated you should have a close driver race with that S4.

Ok,DAD!! My best is 14.1 bone stock. Sorry,my timeslip is buried under two tons of crap in my apartment. I'll probably find it when I move. I think it's sad in this day and age that everyone has to PROVE everything. What ever happend to honor? What a bunch of liars we've become.

All right, where is the distributor cap? I need to find the #1 plug wire to hook up my SUN machine.
