WRX vs Audi S4

A friend of mine has a stock 2006 Audi S4 and he wants to race...legally of course. If I am Cobb stage 2 with a Cobb SF intake (2005 WRX), how would I do against him (assuming fairly equal drivers)?

What's your 1/4 mile time? What's a stock S4 1/4 mile time? They can't be running faster than a low or mid 13's I would guess.

S4's are bi-turbo correct? I think it will be pretty even. I saw one on the street and he was pulling very hard next to me, but I was just driving normally.

No, the new ones are N/A V8, with about 340hp or so. They're pretty heavy though.

Again, just check into what they run stock and we'll have the answer.

I tried searching on google and came up with a few 2004 times, around 14 seconds. Not sure when they swapped motors.

the 2004 S4 quarter mile was >14s. Actually slower 0-60 than a 04 wrx. Don't know about newer ones than that. If it's 2004 or older, a stage 2 wrx should be faster

Here we go. S4:

Base price : $44,500 (estimated) Get a free price quote

Engine : V8, DOHC, front engine AWD
Displacement : 4,163 cc
Valve : 40 valves, 5 valves per cylinder
Transmission : 6-spd manual, 6-spd automanual
Fuel economy : city - unknown
highway - unknown

Suspension : F - Independent four-link
R - Independent trapezoidal-link
Brakes : F - Vented discs
R - Vented discs

Horsepower : 344 hp @ 7000 rpm
Torque : 302 lb-ft @ 3500 rpm
Redline : 7200 rpm

Top speed : 155 mph(electronically limited)
0-60 mph : 5.6 sec.
0- mile : 14.5 sec @ 98.0 mph(estimated)
60-0 braking distance : 120 ft(estimated)
200 ft skidpad : 0.88 g(estimated)

Curb Weight : 3660 lbs(sedan), 3792 lbs(wagon)
Overall length : 180.1 in.
Wheelbase : 104.4 in.
Overall Width : 70.1 in.
Height : 55.7 in.(sedan), 56.7 in.(wagon)

Heavy little bugger. A stock 05 WRX should run even with it. A stage 2 wrx with a good driver could make the guy who spent 45k+ look rather stupid

There's also the $66,000+ 2007 RS4. That one's a little beastier at

Displacement: V8 4.2 liters (254 cu. in.)
Redline: 8250 rpm
Compression ratio: 12.5:1
Horsepower (SAE net):
manual: 420 @ 7500 rpm
Torque: 317 lb-ft @ 6000 rpm
0-60 mph in seconds: 4.8
Top track speed: 155 mph*

which is more in line with a WRX STi (at 1/2 the price)

god bless audi

i am confident that you will take him. s4's are at a weight disadvantage. my buddy has an older single turbo S4, but he has a RS4 turbo on it and a bunch of other goodies. last time we went to the track he was in the mid 12's. but i will admit it feels like a tank. now hes doing everything to lose some weight lol. my goal is to run with him someday with my 06 wrx. take it to the track and let us know!!!

No more than audo WAY overestimated the pricetag on the RS4

66k will get you a Z06 level sports car, right? Boxter S, Viper, not even that far from a carerra. Think again.
