Whats the fastest vf52 1/4 mile time on pump gas?
 
Just curious on where i can find the fastest vf52 quarter mile time on pump gas not meth, e85, or race gas.

Elevation, temp?

Going to the track soon...goal is 12.3 but would be happy with 12.5
I have lots of experience with act or twin disc clutches but where should i launch this car with stock clutch? 4500?

Just curious, what all have you done to the car?

I don't know about the time but the launching, as long as you don't care about potentially braking the tranny, this is how I would do it.

When you line up, let the clutch out until you feel it just barely grabbing.... Once the lights to start going hit the gas, and then drop the clutch when you see green. The ambers are fast enough that you rev up, drop the clutch and go in about a second, which doesn't give the engine much time to hit redline. This method, however, is better suited to a built transmission/driveline and I really don't recommend it on a stock geared car.

If I were taking my car out though, I find the "safest" way to launch is around 2500-3500 and don't let the clutch out all at once. Seems to give me solid results, but I've done it maybe 3 or 4 times in the 13 months I've owned the car

3500k is about right, but as was mentioned you need to add clutch progressively. With my 6spd ratio I barely get the clutch fully released before I have to shift into second, you will have a little more time.

Damn you guys want me to granny launch....what am i gonna cut 1.9 60 ft times? LOL

I launched my last car at 6k and when i had a weaker clutch which was a centerforce it was 5k....im thinking 4-4500....clutch will go its guaranteed but i wanna run a good time not a high 12 lol

spt exh, invidia dp, perrin tmic/pulley/inlet, gt equal header/uppipe, pump, 650s, kstech 83mm cai

They release studderbox for the 09s yet? That would help

If you launch at redline you will trash your tranny, 4k is probably ok but you just have to find where your car is happy. AWD won't slip much and something has to give.

That video is me launching my dsm(all seasons) and spanking a car with full slicks and a stall converter

Yeh I never said i wanted to launch at redline i just thought 3500 was a lil low for a good 60ft time. I was thinking 4-4500

Well yeah you're 60' will suffer but we're talking about the WRX tranny... I don't know squat about the DSM world, but in the WRX world, launching the WRX from 4500 by just dumping the clutch is baaaaaad. I'll say you'll get a few low to mid-12's out of it and then you're going to get a catastrophic failure... Not for sure but it's not something I'm going to mess with until I'm ready to build a new transmission.

I find it's faster to slip the clutch at the right rate in the wrx anyway. If you dump it your either gonna bog or snap some teeth (eventually) a little slip can be faster.

dsm trannys are garbage too...all awd trans are crap. I dont plan on dumping the clutch. I was gonna slip it at a medium speed from 4500. I will play with it a little bit. The weather is warming up here so i should be good to start practicing

i launch at 5000-5500rpm not one problem! you wont hurt the tranny. just slip the clutch. i could slip the clutch all the way to redline and not hurt the tranny one bit!! your clutch on the other hand, plan on it going fast. in my oppion launching at any rpm can be done. these clutchs WILL slip the whole way but your probably fry the crap out of it. my clutch smelled the car up hard core when i first went to the track for over a week. 10k on the clutch now and its still holding fine. others with the 08+ with power have been getting 12k+ out of the OEM clutch. so at least plan on replacing it at 12k.

Except you already killed one clutch....

See what happens when you go into the dealer for two clutches in 30k miles. Don't think they'll fix that one for ya.

^^^^ except i havnt killed one clutch at all!!! if you read my post again im still on my OEM and its holding fine as i stated.

and why on GODS GREEN EARTH would i EVER go to a dealership and let them yuppys touch my car?!! a clutch is not a warrenty issue anyways, just like brakes and rotors. learn how control your speach and know what your talking about. that post in ever way was wrong and not needed.

as for drag racing ive been doing it for 8 years. I know the downsides as im sure everyone else does. you gotta pay to play and clutches are one of them things you gotta do a lot of. no big deal!
