vf39'd wrx vs 16g 1st gen talon awd

Hi all, just thought id get some opinions from everyone on how i would hold up against a 1st gen talon tsi awd

the talon has 16g with gm translator and mass(not sure what that is exactly haha) and hks bov.

my car is 04 wrx 2.0 stock internals with vf39, pinks, large tmic, walbro 255, up pipe, tbe, turbo inlet, k&n panel filter and gm bcs with matching xpt tuning ots map with launch control.

friend of mine has the car and were gonna go to the strip soon, just want to know how id hold up before we go. not sure how his driving is on the strip exactly, but lets say for argument sake that our driving is about the same.

Thanx all

Way to many variables here, but his car will probably be faster, it's lighter, probably makes power faster(this is due to spool characteristics of a Subaru vs. Mitsu.), but it may come down to the launch and how well you get off the line...

His car stock is 205 at the crank, add the 16g in and gives it a bit more. But your 39 does the same and your stock is higher by a little.
Yes he is lighter, but PSInuse is correct.
Who has better launch
Who has better top end
Stick or auto
Blah blah blah.
Do it an let us know. I came to Subaru from DSM and still love them both.
My 91 TSI is what got me hooked on boost;)

Well.... The DSM may not even make it all the way down the track before his crank starts walking

lawl

On a serious note... if it's a large 16g you don't stand a chance. I wouldn't launch your car...EOS

That accounts for less than 4% of the DSMs made and it was on the 2nd gen cars anyway....

i guess im not sure if it is a big or small 16g that he has, not even sure if he has a good tune or not. his is a 5 speed and so is mine. i guess ill give it a shot and see what happens. thanx guys!

psinuse 08-09-2013 08:15 AM

Depends, but with the MAF translater I'm sure it at least has a somewhat better tune than just sticking the turbo on there without upgrades. I'm simply proud of the fact your doing this at the track...makes a man feel all tingly inside...

wrxdan 08-09-2013 08:16 AM

was just thinking about this, but im pretty sure he has stock injectors, not sure if that makes a difference, but in know on our cars when you put on a bigger turbo you usually need bigger injectors to see more power.

i wouldnt be hard launching at all, just slipping the clutch a bit on take off, thinkin hes gonna do the same thing beings he has a stock trans with like 150k miles on it.

psinuse 08-09-2013 08:36 AM

You can get away with a lot more in those cars than you car ours....I ran a big16g on my TSi well over 22psi and never had an issue with the stock injectors....slip the clutch if you want a good launch....

His tranny will blow before his crank starts walking.
Ask me how I know.
