Tips for running a pro tree?
Friday I am running for "Midnight Madness." It's like a test and tune, but it's the street scene at the track. Well, I just found out that they use a pro tree and I've never run a pro tree before. Any tips on when to launch, cause I think they all light up at the same time. I've been launching on a regular tree on the second yellow and that gets me a pretty decent reaction time, my best was .57. Any ideas?:confused:

really on a pro tree you just have to be good thats what we use at the track i go to, a pro tree will be ran off a .400 reaction time for HNRA, all i can say is right after you have turned on your stage light bring up your RPM's and be ready.

OK thanks. I'll let everyone know what my times are. Wish me luck.

Ya know, i've never run on a track before, but what i do is rev up the car to whatever you usually do, and pull the clutch out ever so lightly until you feel it starting to engage, and then push it back in a little, and then launch whenever it hts green or whatever, then you'll have a better reaction time for launching because your clutch travel until engaging will be practically squat. Anyways, good luck!

You know, that just may work, I'm gonna go practice tonight, don't want to look like a fool at the track when I try it and STALL.

Haha, good luck with that style, it doesn't work for my Jetta becasue my powerband is at 4k rpms, so whenever i do this style of launching, it chirps the tires and then takes 4ever to get into 4k rpms... Kindof like a Honda... But something with a lot of low-end torque (even though my Jetta has 160+ ft-lbs) it will be a lot more efficient. Such as the WRX, it should work pretty nicely.

It wasn't even a pro tree! It said pro tree in the program, but it was the same 123 tree that I have been running on. Anyways, niether myself nor my husband did all that great. :notgood: We can't figure it out though. It was a little humid and it was only in the 40s, but I thought that out cars ran better in cool weather.:confused: Anyways, here are my times:
1st run: RT= 0.5041 :rocks:, 60ft= 2.73, 1/4=16.08:notgood:
2nd run: RT=0.728, 60ft 2.80 1/4= 16.04
3rd run (me against my husband's GTO, 1st time ever)=
His: Mine:
RT= .737 .598
60ft= 2.15 2.45
1/4= 14.56 15.50 ( Beat me by less than a second!)
MPH = 97.23 89.43

4th run= RT=.824, 60ft= 2.48, 1/4= 15.57
5th run= RT=.691, 60ft= 2.31, 1/4= 15.25 (my best time that night)

I can't seem to get my 60ft times down, it seems as though my launch is good because I'm getting good reaction times, but maybe I'm riding the clutch a little too long? I didn't even beat my best time ( 2 months ago it was a 15.02). :hurl: I know it's capable of breaking 15 seconds.:mad:

Ignore the first section of the post talking about transmission codes. One problem you have with the 04 is the 60/40 power split. Dunno why Subaru did that but it was the only year they did.
