ive seen the mods. he rarely drives it low miles. he is the second owner. and everything he has said about the care is true. ive seen it and drove it. the loan finally went through and i can finally pick it up. and i havent been to the track that much. the reason i am answer this question is because i dont plan on taking it to the track until i get more comfortable driving it. i dont wanna be inexperienced go to the track and mess up my trans or burn out my clutch.

yea i was gonna say a DNF due to having a stock tranny and new to awd. but once u get used to launching and shifting this car i would guesstimate about a 13.2, too many factors to really guess an accurate time. like tires, and your driving skill and track conditions and elevation, humidity, temperature and the list goes on.

good luck.

believe me when i tell you that just because you can drive a manual on the street do not mean you can drive it on the drag strip. lol

Be careful. I dont think I would be bring stock tranny, AWD anything to the drag strip. Just keep in mind our cars weren't made for the drag strip and don't side step that clutch or BOOM! You probably are making some decent power so let the clutch absorb some of that power when taking off as opposed to dumping it all on the gears at once. Congrats on the purchase!!

Guys, wheres that link for safe take offs on stock gears? That was a good read. Helped me a lot.

It took me about 6 months to get used to the clutch in my 04 and it was stock. I took mine to the strip 2 weeks after I got it just to see what it would do, and I didn't get good times, my best was 15.4 Now that I know how to drive it my times from 2 weeks ago were a lot better, but still didn't brake 15.02. I know my car is capable of running somewhere in the low 14s, but it takes skill to shift between regular driving and dragging. Take it out and run it a couple of times to get your launch right, but be careful of all that power and a stock tranny, like stagger lee said, it may not handle it with a new driver, and be prepared to replace your clutch soon...comes with the drag racing teritory.

ok thanks everyone for your input. and just to clear things up i dont plan on takin it to the drag strip anytime soon i was thinking not till like july or august. i wanna make sure i am driving the car like a pro before i even attempt to launch. i am not experienced with awd at all and i dont wanna run the risk of breaking anything. but i am glad to be a part of the subaru craze and i have a lot of questions so if i cant find it from searching you will be hearing alot from me. o and dremers i can drive a manual at the track ive had quite a bit of experience with my old car, just scared of the awd. Thanks Josh

Everyone's really cool around here so bring on the questions. There was a really good link posted to a write up specifically on launching, a couple weeks ago. I hope someone can re-post it. Mosc? Again welcome Josh. Cheers!

Good idea to wait until you are better at driving your car, but let it be known our scoobies love colder air, it might not run as fast in July or August as it would now or in September or October....and you won't be able to run it as many times because it will take longer to cool down....good luck....and definatly check out the above mentioned thread, it helped me a lot.
