Yea, i love the radiator/IC swap. Very cool idea. I wonder how hard of a mod that would be? I suppose a larger/more efficient Red. could be used up top with the extra room.

It's called the Rigoli Battle Wagon. There was a nice write-up on it in THis month's Turbo Magazine. They quote it at:

8.881 @ 154 mph
542 whp @ 40 psi

Pretty amazing.

I think all you would need to do is get it mounted securelyand then get hoses that are bent to fit. Other then that I can't think of anything you would need, but there is always some unforseen problem.

Yea, i was wodnering about said "unforseen problems". I'm pretty interested in this so I'm gonna talk with the head of my university's Mech. E. department and see what he thinks. He's done work with the BMW and Ferarri F1 racing teams, so he might have some insight.

I can't see why you would do it on a street car, it just wouldb't be as efficient. Like Cosmo said, it is a drag car and doesn't run very long at one time, so the cooling system doesn't need to be that efficient. The radiator is located in front of the engine to maximize the amount of air flow, which intern cools the coolant better. If it was better to have a radiator on top the the engine, I am sure some car company would have made it that way stock and to my knowledge no cars were ever produced like that from the factory.

A real Hummer (not H2) has Dual radiators. One Top mount and one front mount.

if you take gunfire or hit a wall and it punctures the front one, the Redundant top one will do you just fine for a while. At least long enough to get the hell outta dodge.

That is intresting. BUT if you blow a radiator hose let alone the whole radiator the coolant is going to leak out within minutes, not providing much time to escape. That is unless you want to overheat the thing which I would gladly do to any car to save my own life

The radiators, like the transmissions are redundant. There is a seperate resivour and seperate cooling channels they dont share fluids at all. If you see an H1 you should look under the bonnet, it is quite a sight to see

Also look under to see the second driveshaft and redundant transmissions... man those things are sick

Well, cars can actually run quite a while with no coolant. I have seen on several occasions a person put a new motor in a car, and start it and let it run without even having the radiator in the car. No, it's not recommended, but it can be done.

I've seen it done too As for the H1s that is a great idea, but wasn't sure if thats how it was done, I understand now.

you can go about 3 to 10 miles without it with ease, i made it home from school with a side blown apart on my radiator in like 7 minutes and still had a bit in the bottom. happened in my 69 junior year. had a crappy late model aluminum radiator in it, couldnt take the torque vibration... then my pump went bad a month later.
