1st 1/4 mile track day!!!

Well, I think I did ok for the first time at the track.

06 wrx cat-back invidia and spt intake
62 degrees F

Nice day, 1st time ever launching since owing the car in Aug of 06 so I needed some practice.

1st run. Rxn time .357, 60ft @ 2.294, 1/8 mile @ 9.630 1/4 mile 14.794 @ 95.693mph
2nd " " .128 @ 2.184 @ 9.540 14.729 @ 95.180mph
3rd .069 @ 2.095 @9.486 14.760@ 93.233 mph
4th .240 @ 1.990 @9.395 14.710@ 92.631 mph
5th .186 @1.978 @9.100 14.251@ 95.041 mph
6th .272 @1.988 @9.093 14.239 @ 95.274 mph

Was VERY scared of breaking something, but I didn't:rocks: Decent times I think for somewhat babying the car. What do you think???? Z
PS what happened to the timeslipe archive?????

get a downpipe, flash stage 2, more practice and you're in the 13's.

Get those 60ft times down and you will see some better 1/4 mile times. I believe for every tenth you take off your 60ft, it will take 2 tenths off of your 1/4 mile.

Our track in New England opens up april 1st and i was wondering if i could get some of u guys' imput on should i mod before i go or should i see what my car will run stock and modd from there i know im gunna go there with a blow off valve which i know is just a bolt on accessorie not a power modd and im goin to re-circulate the air back into the system using some advice i read on this website.
Any insite on the stock track run would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance

Stock times won't say much (as you already know what they can do) as car ppl always do it....ie.... Road N Track, etc.....
Get a few mods together and then go out there..... IMO.

Agreed on getting your 60ft times down, this will make a big change, but congrats on your times. If it makes you feel any better the first time I took my car to the track I ran a 15.6 with a 2.5 60ft time:pity: people were :tease: at me, of course I didn't really launch the car it was just from idle. Keep working at it and you'll get the hang of it.
p.s. Since that time I have never had my car at a 1/4mi track only 1/8mi. and have not made a good run yet.:notgood:

I've heard that the best first upgrade to a stock WRX is the exhaust, it'll get u pushing at least 70 more horse.

Vew 03-14-2008 11:29 AM

That seems like a stretch. I'd say 20-30. Needless to say, 20-30 is still a noticable increase.

BC_Girl 03-14-2008 02:41 PM

I was misinformed

SuBeast 03-14-2008 05:04 PM

yeah, at least a full turbo-back exhaust will get you that power, i have heard several times that just a Cat-Back will give you close to nothing...

CLoZZ 03-23-2008 06:44 PM

I agree, if you're going to put on an exhaust kit...go with a turbo-back. I had a pretty descent run this past weekend.

A turboback on a 04 + without EM is bad. The ECU can't adjust for the TB like the 02-03 could.
06 Rex put the stock BPV back on, the car will run better.
