06 TR WRX First run

If anyone cares to know what a stock 06' WRX will do at the track(1/4). I am going to run mine friday night while it is still stock(except for the SPT exhaust, but it is not a mod that I personally added). So anyhow, as long as everything is alright with work, and the weather permits, i should have some timeslips posted friday night(late) or maybe saturday morning. Wish me luck, and by the way, I haven't been able to race at a strip for almost two years due to deployments(OEF,OIF, I am in the military), so when you see my reaction times and timeslip in general, please do not be too flame-ready.

Word,

try launching around 4k first and lets see what you run? And if you really want a good time launch at 5k, but be careful around 5k, crazy pull. LoL good luck

Good luck man. If you haven't been before, look around this forum for threads with tips in them. There are quite a few. Launching your car is going to take some getting used to, if you haven't done it before. The first time I took mine I bogged the launch bad a few times before I somewhat got the hang of it. Take your time, pay attention to your car, (not that badass blown Stang next to you) and try not to be dissapointed with your first time. Have a good time, that's all that counts.

I know of a pretty good thread on another forum that covers a good launch techique. I used it and it worked pretty good for me, until I didn't use it and shredded the crap out of 1st gear. That's another story for another day though.

Here's the link I was talking about. You might have to register to view it though.

It's all about the launch.... with the exception of shifting, the car will take care of mostl the work past the 60'.

One of the biggest factors you can personally influence on the 1/4 mi is how you launch. There's no 'magic trick' to make your car faster in the last 1/8th as long as you know how to shift. There's def a trick to launching a WRX though. Done right, and you'll post some respectable nunbers, done wrong and you'll post some pretty awful ones.

If you've been to the strip before, then you'll get it down after a few runs.

Happy Hunting.

I used to own an eclipse GSX, I used to run it pretty often, so I am no stranger to the track, I took 30 bucks the other night, filled up, and went out to an empty part of town with a stop light, and practiced launching for about an hour, I think that i am doing ok. I have also watched a lot of videos online at different sites, and what i am doing seems to be a pretty decent technique. I mean, when I launch, there is no bog, maybe a little tire bark, but for the most part, I have been able to just pull staright out of the hole and be into second in not time, or so it seems, only timeslips will tell...

Talking

Alright gentlemen, and Ladies, if any present..... I have posted my timeslip. Stock 06' WRX TR 1/4 Mile time: 14.459 @ 93.89 mph. I am not at all displeased, it is located in the bragging rights, including a photo...By the way, can anyone tell me how to resize my photos, they ae huge, and i am only able to have two because of the size of the files. I also have a video of me racing a Camaro SS, which I smoke off the line and in the 1/8, he took me by .4 secs in the end.

Nice job man, that's not too shabby for a stock WRX.

As for photo resizing, check out www.myimager.com

You can do pretty much anything to a pic there. What I do is resize my pics there and then save them to my photobucket account.

Pretty respectable 60' time. 14.459 isn't bad at all for a totally stock WRX. Quite a bit quicker than the 02-05 model years.
